Mitchell School Bath to Receive Fine New Quarters
A perspective of the Mitchell School on Weeks Street shows a modern building by J W Burrowes Co Portland Me with plastering carpentry and painting planned for spring. The brickwork foundation and roof were completed before severe weather, and the brick and stone exterior use local materials. Two stair-end exits reduce fire risk as six 40-pupil classrooms occupy the main and second floors. basement houses recreation toilets boiler and potential domestic science or manual training rooms. The building will use direct steam heat and gravity ventilation with ample light from left-side windows. The tablet honoring Leland R Mitchell was funded by Ward One subscriptions and placed on the front after city officials approved the design.
