Westport Bridge Needs Ahead Easter Services at Center Church

The town notes the ferryman’s ongoing duties and urges progress. Easter Sunday services will feature Rev. S. H. Cain of Montsweag Free Baptist Church at two o clock with special singing. Cain, born in Yarmouth Nova Scotia and a McMaster’s Hall graduate, is a respected preacher and granger. The pastor invites local grange members in regalia to attend. If possible roads allow, Cain will also preach at the South schoolhouse Sunday evening at seven.

Colonial Club Holds Busy Monthly Meeting

The Colonial Club met Monday evening with Vice-President R. B. Hatch presiding in President John H. Hyde’s absence. George W. Dean joined as active member, H. W. Childs of Boston became a non-resident member, and Warren Hawley moved to active status. Reports on interclub, billiard, and pool tournaments were received. The club plans two captains to arrange a forthcoming tournament with winners entertainment by losers. The general committee is to invite others to the next meeting for the championship cup presentation, which has been ordered. A thanks was given to F. A. Mahoney of Eastern Cigar Co. for cigars at the recent social, and a May 1 ball was unanimously agreed for.

Foss-Holden Wedding in Rye New Hampshire

Miss Mable Josephine Foss of Rye N H and H Gerald Holden of Bath were married Sunday evening at the bride’s home. Rev J W Adams of Methuen Mass officiated with Miss Emma L Foss as bridesmaid. Holden is the son of Mrs Mary Louise Holden and formerly resided in the city.

Installation of Polar Star Lodge Officers and Banquet

The Polar Star Lodge No. 114 F and A M installed new officers led by W M Raymond C. Brown with P W M Roy J Buxton assisted by P M W Furber as grand marshal and Elmer W Rogers as grand chaplain. A banquet followed as the lodge honored Buxton with a past master’s jewel and Brown presented the gift. Also noted are community notices including a Baptist society meeting and probate court actions plus an oats for sale at the Experiment Farm Highmere priced at 1.00 per bushel.
