Fire destroys Summer home at Small Point
Early Friday a fire leveled the 2 1/2 story Summer home of Mrs. Thy Jayne on Small Point road, New Maine. Loss estimated at 25000 dollars. Strong winds and rainstorm suspected to have started the blaze by a short circuit. Mrs. Marguerite Blair awakened and alerted others. Bath and Phippsburg fire crews arrived to battle the flames as damage extended to nearby buildings. Mrs. Jayne, sister of former Maine Governor Sumner Sewall, had recently renovated the house and stored valuable antiques.
