Big Four Route Tickets Set For Late November Sale

On Thanksgiving night November 30 1905 a pie sociable is to be held at the Hayti school all are invited. L Newson teacher notes the pike between Cross Roads and Napoleon will be finished this week with a remaining gap about one and a half miles to Napoleon creating a continuous route from Batesville to Versailles.

Hand Amputation Suffered Feeding Corn Shredder
Last Friday Louis Schutter of Lookout, son of Fred Schutter, had his left hand caught in a corn shredder feeding mechanism. Four fingers and the thumb were amputated back to the first joint. Doctors Gibson and Coomes attended and dressed the hand. The article warns shredders are dangerous machines to operate.

Batesville Marshal Uses Patrol Wagon to Transport Prisoner
Batesville reports Marshal Rebel recently employed a patrol wagon for prisoner transport. On a Wednesday he arrested a drunken man and with bystanders carried him over railroad tracks, dumped him into a wood wagon, and sent him to the cab house to sober up.

Found Dead in Bed at 71 in German M E Church Funeral
Mrs Eva Steiger aged 71 8 1 days was found dead in her bed Sunday about 5 30 am. A visiting Miss Rohnk said she spoke to the deceased around 2 am and she appeared well. Died between 2 and 4 am probably soon after the talk. She leaves four children Charley Fred Henry and a daughter in Tampa Fla. Funeral held Wednesday afternoon at the German M E church.

Great Pun For Everybody at Huntersville School House
An event advertised for Saturday evening November 25 1905 at the Huntersville school house invites ladies to buy parcels of cake rather than bring pies. Mrs Leopold Hammer dies at home near St Nicholas on Friday November 18 and is laid to rest with John Nickel August Bloemer and Frederick Schrader among attendees from this place. The three men are noted members of the German Lannwehr Verein, of which Mr Hammer, deceased’s husband, was an honored member.

Mohr Arrested for Shooting Nusbaumer Falls to Fine
Sheriff Gordon and Bailiff Griffith arrested Andy Mohr from Versailles for shooting Alex Nusbaumer on June 7 1905. Mohr pleaded guilty to assault and battery and was fined fifteen dollars plus costs after the courtroom shift from shooting with intent to kill.

Boar Attack Injures Man Near St Marys
Jacob Etter attempted to place a ring on a large boar and was gored on the hand. The tusk ripped away the Nesh and tore tendons, leaving a severe injury with risk of blood poisoning and possible amputation if infection develops.
