Groups include OD Broodmen of America Knights of Pythias American Protestant Association Grand Army of the Republic German Landwehr Verein American Protective Association Council No. 70 IOU A.M., Y M and G C, and Resolute Boys Club with specific days and times.
Meeting times listed for Citizens Saving and Loan Association Batesville Fire Co and Mechanics Hall. Mechanics Hall hosts weekly Tuesday 7:50 pm gatherings. Batesville Fire Co meets every Wednesday 7:30 pm. Fire group also notes meetings on the 2nd Monday each month at Town Hall 7 pm.

On March 19 1898 between 10 am and 4 pm at the Ripley County Courthouse door the east half of the southeast quarter Section 6 Township 9 Range 12 east totaling about 80 acres will be offered for rents and profits for up to seven years. If not enough to satisfy the decree a second sale of the fee simple interest will occur at the same time and place to discharge the debt. No relief from valuation or appraisal laws. Sickness rises in Batesville while spring dress goods bargains lure shoppers. Crane boiler layoffs affect Greemann Bros. and local livery stables report staff changes. Names include Wachsman, Hackman, Goether, and Goether lot sale at 850 dollars in Huntersville. Croup warnings and One Minute Cough Cure advertise medicine.
Jefferson Wilhelm, a 72 year old veteran from Knox Indiana, writes in praise of Syrup of Pepsin claiming it cured his stomach troubles after war service. He endorses the medicine and notes it is sold by G A Baas in Batesville.
Free samples of Dr. King's New Life Pills are promoted by H. F. Bucklen & Co. in Chicago. The ad claims easy action, relief for constipation and headaches, malaria and liver troubles, and no deleterious substances. Regular box priced at 25 cents, sold by G. A. Baas, Druggist.
