Walsman repairs wire fencing while Engle's serves oysters daily. Mrs. Oswald improves after illness two weeks. Louis Behr moves to Mehlon property on Ehringer street. Casper Disser and family relocate to Shelbyville. Oak Palace Saloon promotes liquors billiards and pool. G W Stegner and Henry Schaal depart Batesville for Michigan City. Josh Edgar reports relief from rheumatism after Chamberlains Pain Balm. John Gauck Druggist offers it locally.

Mrs. Cora Mellow and little girl, of Newpoint, were visiting her sister, Mrs. Chas. Turner, last week. She returned to Newpoint on Thursday. A large group of friends and family met at Fred Schrader's residence on Thursday night to pay respects to Hon. Henry Schaal and his wife. Supper, around 10 o'clock, showcased Mrs. Schrader's cooking. The evening featured games and social conversation with wine, and guests departed after midnight.

William Rahe and his son Ben hauled a load of lumber to the Western Furniture Co. Monday. The wagon broke a single tree when a horse bolted, sending the wagon into mud. The other horse pulled the load nearly 100 yards before sinking in mud, but no one was hurt and nothing broke.

Herman Jo h anning of Batesville Ind declares he will not be responsible for any debts his wife Magda Lena Johanning may incur from February 23, 1899 onward. The notice requests separation from his wife and disclaims all future debts. Also small ads promote DeWitt's Witch Hazel Salve and report a burglary attempt at Ed Schafer's photographic gallery.
An advertisement touts Banner Salve as the world renowned skin specialist’s prescription, claimed to heal piles burns scalds ulcers and all skin diseases. The notice also lists Mr Geo Avery Mr Henry Seiter Mr Wm Heming D McCallum P M and warns letters uncalled for by March 31 1899 will go to the dead letter office in Washington DC.
Miscellaneous items including sales pitches for clothing carpets and shoes at fairs, local names visiting relatives, barn construction, a Batesville ad on Raymond coal, drugstore offerings from Gauck and Baas, and a note on avoidable obituary poetry costs. A playful weather fantasy ends with hopes for patenting befogged innovations.
