Batesville focus centers on Joe Genz who pitched a near perfect game defeating Walter Johnson. Chicago Daily Journal hails Genz as White Sox ace after three stellar outings, calling his no hit win a crowning career moment.
A severe storm swept Batesville and outlying areas with thunder lightning hail and heavy rain from 2 30 to 4 00 pm. One man Reno Barnhorst of Oldenburg was killed by lightning. Farms barns and telephone posts were damaged. chickens drowned. many trees blown down. Barnhorst funeral held at Holy Family cemetery.
The first wedding at Bethany church will be solemnized tonight at eight oclock. Miss Margaret Bauman and Wesley Kramer to wed with Rev Gringte officiating. The church will be decorated with flowers and streamers and white. The bride will wear a white gown and be attended by a bridesmaid, the groom by a best man. After the ceremony, a reception will follow with many friends in attendance. Elizabeth Schwertfeger and George Goether wed in Indianapolis at St Philip Neri at eight this morning.

A morning blaze in Waldron Indiana began in the K of P building around 4 30 and spread to adjacent structures burning out most of the town s business section The fire destroyed the millinery shop of Miss Tillie Hutton where Edna Martin worked during the latest millinery season.

The city council awarded the Pearl street curb and gutter contract from the Franklin County line to Main Street to Wolf Krieger the lowest bidder. Krieger’s bid was about $52.00 higher than the next lowest bid in a tight competition. The council also discussed oiling certain streets at a Tuesday session. John Kirschbaum bought the Sherman Hotel from John Kaiser who keeps the bar for now.
