LeRoys Fall to Lawrenceburg 6–2 in Sunday Game

Batesville LeRoys lost their second game to Lawrenceburg 6 to 2 on Sunday. Meyer pitched for the LeRoys with Bohland sidelined by a bad ankle while Hoag pitched well for Lawrenceburg. Errors and limited support limited Batesville as Lawrenceburg led from the fifth inning onward. Next Sunday the LeRoys face Brookville at the fairgrounds. admission 25 cents for men, 10 cents for women.

Nickelo and Wintz Bros Open New Show in Batesville

Nickelo opened Saturday and Wintz Bros. followed with a Nickelo in the Tribune Building to large crowds. Two reels shown per performance included The Pirate of the Sea and The Death of Minnehaha. The life like pictures pleased viewers and Wintz Bros. assure readers no offensive films will be shown. With Batesville city size typical of two to four theaters, a successful venture seems likely.

Adams Township Republicans to Convene for Delegate Vote

Adams Township Republicans meet at Spades on Saturday June 4 1910 to choose one delegate and one alternate for the joint senatorial convention in Madison Indiana on June 11 1910 and to transact other business. Lewis Sree serves as chairman. Ice cream sodas and sundaes offered at Blank's Pharmacy with Perfection blue flame wick oil stove featured at Thie Schmocker's.

Rural Carriers Meet Successfull Semiannual Gathering

Rural carriers held a successful semiannual meeting led by President Louis Goyert of Batesville. Judge F. M. Thompson and R. A. Creigmire gave addresses, followed by business, a piano duet, and talks on carrier life and experiences. Delegates named for the State Convention. Osgood routes hosted a generous dinner, with plans to reconvene at Cross Plains on Thanksgiving Day.

Medical Society Holds Fourth Indiana Councillor District Meeting

The annual meeting and banquet of the Fourth Indiana Councillor District Medical Association took place in Lawrenceburg with a lengthy program. The scientific session was aboard the steamer Kentucky while cruising the Ohio River, with Ripley County doctors including G. T. Beckett, O. D. Ryan, C. E. Holton, D. Freeman, R. C. Townsend, H. Nelson, B. Whitlatch, J. R. Pate, J. W. McClure, L. T. Cox, and M. Joseph Coomes in attendance.

Funeral for Batesville builder John Hillenbrand Sr.

John Hillenbrand Sr. 67 died after months of illness. He founded the American factory in Batesville, built much of the town, employed many men, and aided the poor. The funeral at St. Louis Catholic Church drew large crowds with prominent pallbearers and attendees from Cincinnati Indianapolis Brookville and beyond.

An unusually large crowd filled St Clair Halls for the Common and High School commencement last Wednesday evening. Dr Joshua Stansfield of Indianapolis gave a splendid address as the essays could not be delivered due to the large number of graduates. The orchestra and high school vocal selections complemented a pleasant night.

Memorial services poorly attended by local G A R post

August Willich Post G A R held memorial services with weak advertising and no speaker. About twenty members gathered at the hall early, visiting the Catholic cemetery where graves were decorated with flags. No address or ceremony occurred.

Birthday Anniversary for John A. Bosse on Depot Street

John A. Bosse celebrated his 78th birthday at his home on Depot Street last Sunday. Relatives and friends from the city and nearby areas attended, including Rudolph Hahn and wife of Cincinnati, George Thieman and wife and sons, Chas Binder and family of Hamilton, Frank Worland and wife of Shelbyville, and Geo Clemons and wife of Greensburg. Bosse remains active, working daily in his clothing store, and well wishes to reach 100.

Gas Now Ready for Batesville Residents

Batesville citizens who prefer gas to coal or lamp light can obtain gas at any time. The main streets are piped and additional streets are being connected by a large crew. Past ventures into gas failed, but current leadership led by James P. Goodrich C W Hooven and J C Vance has funded the plant and wells to supply mains. Clarence Pratt and a garage mishap caused a horse driven incident on George Street with minor fence and cart damage.
