Residents travel to Cincinnati and Connersville, sewing machine discounts offered by J W Henry, saloon sale news, and a Disc Graphophone sale by W H St Clair with 200 to 300 records.
The itemized column lists goods for sale at Wilker & Co and Wim Krieger & Son with prices for croquet balls plow points and sewing machines. It records visitors including Miss Lizzie Press from Cincinnati and Rev Aura Smith of Evansville visiting families here. A cholera infantum death of Henry Luesse's infant son is noted with burial at the Catholic cemetery.
The Y M S C will hold its annual outing on Sunday August 2. Hacks will be on hand at 9 a.m. Ladies with invitations and members not meeting at the club hall may meet at Schafer Bohland's Studio. Prizes awarded for foot races largest fish and other contest winners. By order of Committee.
On Sunday around 4 o clock a barrel of whiskey was bored with a gimlet by Crusie. The head exploded blasting the top of the barrel into the ceiling, injuring Ed’s hands slightly. No cause is known and a flame was seen.
Mike Klein of the Lawrenceville road near Sunman died from heart disease after a brief illness. He was buried Wednesday in the cemetery at the new Penntown Lutheran church following the Sunday dedication service.
The St. John's congregation at Penntown dedicated its new brick church last Sunday with morning and afternoon services. Ministers from Covington Cincinnati Mt. Healthy Lamar Batesville Huntersville Cross Roads Spades Adams Church Penntown all attended, led by pastor J. Merkel. The edifice is large and credits the congregation as generous collections were reported for the day despite crowded seating.

G L Gray, described as a genius by nature and artist by profession, is known for drawing vivid crayon portraits of people while they chat. He promises true to life, fadeless pictures for 25 cents, drawing viewers including young boys who recognize him by his long black hair and hat.
Mrs Louis Wamsgons was bitten by a snake while her husband loaded hay in a meadow. After swelling and pain throughout the morning, William Karl fetched Dr Jerman from Newpoint. Whiskey offered little relief until the doctor arrived and she began to recover slowly.
An audit shows ex-Treasurer Grant Johnson defrauded about eleven thousand dollars. Delinquent taxes totaling 2,800 and 8,200 from pike bonds are charged to his account but erased, suggesting possible fraud. A full investigation is urged, naming Johnson’s associates and noting the county’s funds remain secure. The note ends with a parish picnic announcement from St. Paul’s Cross Roads for August 21 at St Clair’s Grove inviting all residents.

The C H D team of Cincinnati, leader in the Railroad League, beat the Stars 14 to 5 after an explosive eighth inning. Roell struck out 14 for the home nine while Seibel allowed seven innings of solid pitching for the visitors. Agnes starred in left field for the Stars with five putouts.
The Young Men's Social Club offered club rooms for a Saturday evening gathering with an unusually large crowd that stayed agreeable until midnight. Greensburg wealth and a hypothetical five thousand dollar foot race are noted. Local church services and community updates follow.

The Batesville Stars beat the Cincinnati C H C & C club 11 to 5 after a 5 5 tie, with nine runs in the eighth inning.
