A New Year Eve dance at Nickel's Hall hosted by Monroe Greemann's friends marked his farewell before departing for Bloomington University on Monday. About fifteen couples attended and enjoyed dancing and a long feast. The hall's decorations were noted for their beauty and good taste.

There is talk of extending the Southern Indiana railroad from Jackson county to connect with the Big Four, with local business interest urged to secure Batesville as the terminus. William Schwier and son bought out all other stock in Western Furniture Co and will operate it. H C Canfield sold and plans to travel for Western, gaining control of output. Best wishes to all in their new roles.
William Thie spent Sunday in Cincinnati while Mrs. Fred Meyer visited the city last week. Harvey Gluesenkamp visited Indianapolis to see his brother, and Miss Lottie Muegel returned home from Cincinnati after visiting Mrs. Wesley Schultz. Other locals, including Alfred Weismiller and Paul Bertram, hosted or traveled to relatives in Lafayette Morris and Indianapolis.
Millinery stock moved to the home of Miss M. Kessing and Mrs. C. H. Kessing in Oldenburg. The sisters announce continued operations and extend thanks to customers for past patronage and future support.

Mrs. Louis Ollier and her daughter Emma of Cincinnati spent the holidays with her son and daughter here. She returned home Monday evening taking her grandson Henry Oswald’s child with her.
Mrs. Severinghaus of Louisville and her son William of Moore's Hill visited her sister Mrs. Louis Vanewehr from Saturday to Monday. Mrs. Igelman of Indianapolis, another sister, arrived Saturday and left Tuesday.
The Batesville vital statistics for 1904 show births 26 males and 22 females, deaths 14 males and 7 females, total births 48, total deaths 21, and a net natural gain of 27. 1903 totals match 1904 in totals but differ by sex.

Numerous residents list Sunday visits in Cincinnati and Indianapolis including Otto Wessel, Dora Wessel, Lizzie Hilker, Emma Gander, Minnie Schwetmann, and William Brinkman.
