Batesville Plans 3000 Dollar Street Improvement Bonds

Ordinance 64 authorizes Batesville Indiana to borrow 3000 dollars to repair and improve streets. Bonds in 300 dollar denominations at 4 percent interest payable annually will be sold by sealed bids with notice in local newspapers Batesville Tribune and Democratic Herald. Passed February 18 1907 by the Board of Trustees Joseph Schork president and Jacus F Drescher town clerk.

Town Board Advances Bonds and Street Improvements

The Town Board met Monday evening with full attendance. It authorized issuing 3000 dollars in street improvement bonds, paid off a 500 dollar school bond, and granted First National Bank a permit to use part of Main street for a new bank building. The meeting adjourned to February 25, 1907.

Jury Awards Mary Starks 2500 in Railroad Damage Suit

A Versailles circuit court jury awarded Mary A. Starks 2500 after a trial that began Tuesday and involved about 35 witnesses. The case stemmed from the February 14, 1906 fatal crossing accident at Mulberry street Batesville No. 11. The suit named CU C C St. L Railroad Co. and followed failed settlement attempts.
