The Beihl family Mrs John Beihl and her father in law George Beihl and a child were ill through Saturday. John Beihl fainted and was very sick for a time but recovered in the afternoon. Word from Sunman reporter John Bennett confirms William Bennett died at his New Alsace home at 2 a.m. Wednesday. A Batesville resident for years, he moved away about six to seven years ago. No burial details or cause of death available at this time.
Report of a bright sunlit February 2 with the groundhog seeing its shadow. Weather lore says shadow implies six more weeks of winter, a forecast some years proving accurate for about a week or more.

Married at Oldenburg Tuesday morning February 7 Anthony Suhre of Brookville wed Miss Matilda Kess ing of Oldenburg. Attendants included Henry Suhre with Miss A Willenhoff and Joseph Suhre with Miss Leona Lamping.

Batesville resident Fred Gohs died at his brother Conrad Gohs home in Cincinnati after months of ill health. He was moved there Sunday evening for care. his body to be returned to Batesville for burial in St. John's cemetery family lot. Funeral details were not learned.
