Norman L. Green sued George W. Whit ham for slander, relocated to Versailles from Jefferson county. A jury returned a verdict for Green for one cent after two trial days. The suit stemmed from Whitham accusing Green of safe blowing and theft connected to a 20 year old Canaan store burglary. The case drew thirty five witnesses with prominent Jefferson county figures involved. Attorneys for Green were Chas. I. Willson Judge Bear Capt. Vanosdol, Madison. for Whit ham J. B. Rebuck John O. Cravens, Versailles.
Town officials meet with all members present to approve prior minutes and discuss salaries. Fire Chief Wonning to test hydrants with hoses of varying lengths.
