Report details a burglary at the Eggler home where two men entered after midnight. The old couple resisted, a pistol was waved, and four dollars were taken. Mrs. Eggler identifies one assailant as white of low stature with a dark complexion. The town should offer a reward for the apprehension of the guilty parties.
The C C C and St. L Ry Co and Henry Brum settle for 500 dollars for ground to lay a public highway across Brums field. The route jogs south into the field then west to join the Brookville Napoleon road near Brum Sr residence. New road will cross the railroad then connect with existing routes, replacing the old lines.
Last Wednesday afternoon in Schneider's woods one man shot another by mistake with a 32 caliber revolver half a mile south of Morris. Andy Huenefeld was wounded in the back. X rays showed the bullet lodged near the hip. Doctors performed a chloroform operation to locate the path of the bullet. No bowels were perforated and the patient may recover after bed rest to prevent inflammation.
The notice touts I C S offering a small daily effort of sand and an hour to raise pay. It cites Batesville students Wa Foerster Randolph Krieger and Monroe Won ning and invites locals to ask them about results or write J F Childs Rep Scranton Pa for information.
Detective Grady of Hig four with Marshal Harry Rebel raided Hulls tents near the wreck site on Wednesday and recovered thread, queensware, felt boots and other items allegedly moved from the wrecked train. They searched again this morning but results were not learned.
Hannah Plant of Little Rock Ark declares Buck-Jen's Arnica Salve cured her running sores after five years of failed treatments. The salve, advertised as a marvelous healer for cuts burns and wounds, is guaranteed at Baas Schulz drug store for 24 cents.
The Huntersville Sunday school will stage its annual Christmas entertainment on Sunday evening December 24 1905. A cantata will be among the program numbers and the school has made a special effort to deliver a fine show.
The Big Four offers special low return-rate tickets for holiday visitors with sales on December 23, 24, 24, 30 and 31 of 1905 and January 1, 1906. Tickets cover travel back through January 3, 1906.
Mrs Alberry Dickey and her two youngest children with Miss Emma Roth traveled to Greensburg for a Wednesday morning visit.
After about two weeks in Shelbyville, Miss Nora Frensemeyer came home Monday evening.
A major railroad wreck occurred just inside the eastern town limits when a local freight collided with a construction train on the main track. Conductor James King, engineer Fred Skeen, and fireman Ernst Lyle survived initial injuries but King died within hours. Bevans the brakeman was killed, and Colson was injured. The tragedy also claimed Bevans's young wife, and the town mourned as coroner reviews began.
On December 8 during Immaculate Conception feast the Holy Family church in Oldenburg marked the 25th anniversary of the local Young Men and Young Ladies sodality. One hundred boys led by a brass band marched to the schoolhouse where 104 girls in wreaths joined, church decor delighted attendees, Rev Falgerns read vespers, and Rev Father Urban of Cincinnati delivered a striking sermon. Attendees called it the best celebration yet here.

A man named Jake Behr was cut by a flying wreck sliver at his gate near the track as a railway collision occurred. His own dog bit him in the hurried entry but neither injury was serious. The note also mentions Indianapolis dentists opening an office at Batesville and visiting Greensburg for their services.

A New Year’s ball will be held at St. Clair’s on Friday December 20 with two bands providing music and refreshments served. Since New Year’s Eve falls on Sunday the event is moved to the preceding Friday.
The Ladies' Auxiliary will run a country store at Nichol hall on December 27, 1905, with a euchre party in the evening. Proceeds support St Ludwig's church. Everyone is invited to attend.

Mrs Susana Coman and her daughter Mrs King spent a week at Newpoint and returned to Batesville.
The Rev father Solanus traveled to Greensburg on Saturday evening to fill the pulpit of the Rev father at the parish on Sunday.
The farmers institute at Sunman last Friday and Saturday drew strong attendance with speakers present, despite T G Day's absence due to ill health. Miss Mather urged mothers to train daughters for useful work, J A Burton spoke on orchard care and growing apples, J H Gwaltney emphasized seed selection for corn, and Friday evening featured Hon F M Thompson Joe Burton and Gwaltney. Music and readings complemented each session, with pleasant weather aiding a profitable event.
The Gross Lyall Stock Co. under Lyall and Doherty opens a three night engagement at St Clair Opera House presenting A Hooligan's Luck. One lady is admitted free with each reserved seat ticket bought today at Baas and Chult2s drug store. Mr Monday sublets unfinished Big Four concrete work to Mr Haolon of Cleves Ohio due to health.

At the last council meeting the marshal reported brick received for crossings and a car of flagging from Newpoint. He was ordered to obtain a pump to drain hydrants and to direct men to open plugs and drain closed, plus order another car of crushed stone. Four year old Henry Jaeger son of Mr and Mrs George Jaeger West Pearl street died after sudden cramps on Wednesday evening. Funeral at 2 PM Sunday from the Jaeger home with interment at St John’s cemetery Huntersville.
William Schutte aged about 87 died at his home near Lawrenceville on Sunday December 10 1905. The funeral was held Tuesday at Hubble's Corner with attendees Cordt Bruns and wife Miss Bertha Bruns Lennie Bruns Wm G Greeman and wife and Fred Kretzmeyer from the area. Mrs Bruns had been with her father since last week.
