A severe late Monday rain drenched Batesville and nearby areas causing extensive grain loss in bottom lands along Bobb’s Creek Little Laughery Morris and surrounding valleys. Mrs Dorothea Zierer and relatives here learned Monday of the death of her eldest son William at his Covington Kentucky home. He lived in Covington and Cincinnati most his life and worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance in Covington. Services were held at 1304 Holman Avenue then at Lutheran church with burial in Highland Cemetery. Survived by widow two children his mother five brothers and one sister. Attending from Batesville were his mother Albert Edward Louis and families.

Boy Scouts Hike to Sunman for Overnight Camp
Seven members of the Batesville troop hiked to Sunman Saturday evening with tents blankets utensils and provisions for a night in the open. The group traveled from Batesville and spent the night camping near Sunman. They cooked breakfast and all were served before breaking camp and returning home. The expedition forms part of a first class scout test. Four were second class and three are tender feet now advancing in rank. The Batesville troop now has twenty eight scouts showing strong interest in the program.
