Mrs. Quirin Vonderheide and children came home Monday from New Alsace where they had visited relatives and friends. They were accompanied by her father, Mr. Wilhelm, who with his wife will make his home in Batesville.
J. F. Childs of Greensburg Indiana requests readers to write or use the circular card to enroll in the International Correspondence Schools in Scranton, Pa. Joseph Weibert of West Plains Missouri visits Batesville relatives after thirty three years away. He will stay months visiting kin born after his departure.
Card of Thanks expresses gratitude for help during illness and burial of Adam Moozer. John Hillenbrand buys Green farm near Metamora 55 acres for 10500, adds adjacent 400 acre parcel, totaling about 900 acres, plus Hauss farm near Morris for about 10000, bringing total land to near 2000 acres.
On April 11 a neighbor forgot his hat at the hall and another man wore a similar hat leading Dr. C. W. Gibson to experience a sudden shift of thoughts toward farming and farm implements. The physician fears continued misidentification could affect his medical judgments until the owner returns the hat.
Notice to breeders. Billy Persans, a five year old black Percheron stallion owned by John L. Schutter on Rural Route No 4, stands for stud service. He is 164 hands high, weighs 1700 pounds, well built and well proportioned. Terms nine dollars.
On account of building a new brick church the St Pauls congregation of Cross Roads will offer for sale their frame church building to the highest bidder on Tuesday, April 25, at 3 p m sharp, on said premises. Terms net cash on day of sale. Further conditions made known on day of sale. COMMITTEE.
The Ladies Society of St. John's church holds an Easter Monday supper at the Huntersville schoolhouse on April 24. Preparations are underway for a dinner priced at 20 cents with no admission for the evening entertainment. Refreshments include ice cream cake and soft drinks and all are invited.
A farmstead near Sunman burned Monday night after a man from Sunman driving to the fire encountered a retreating driver who refused to reveal the location. Shots were fired at the fleeing man, with no clear effect. A youth previously labeled a fire bug is strongly suspected, though guilt remains unproven.
Henry Brockmann and his wife and child from Cincinnati visited Batesville on an excursion to see her mother Mrs. Louis Clostermeyer and family. Mr Brockmann subscribed to the Tribune while in town to stay informed on local events.
Easter Sunday evening service begins 7 30 pm at the German M E Church with choir selections and congregational songs. Esther Wilker recites, Clara Annnewehr and Bertha Bruns sing a duet, Elma Annnewehr performs a solo, and a mixed quartet sings. If weather allows a male chorus with cornet plays at 5 30 am from the church tower.
