Batesville Chooses Light Contract With Electric Co
Batesville City Council awarded a fifteen year lighting contract to Batesville Electric Light and Power Co. The plan covers about eighty lights including 100 watt incandescents at 27 dollars per year, 50 watt incandescents at 18 dollars, and smaller lamps with options for 75 or 40 watt substitutions. Total cost shows an increase of 187 dollars for greater candle power, with eighty tungsten lights delivering roughly 3620 candle power. One bid received, deemed fair, with consideration given to city wiring and fuel differences from other Indiana towns. Mrs. E M Moulton of Newpoint visited Batesville.

Last Thursday April 6 a surprise birthday gathering was held for Anna Hickasan turning eighteen. About 31 guests, mostly township teachers and Newpoint School pupils, attended at her R R 2 home. They surprised her on the piano with a high school yell then enjoyed music, games and refreshments until nine.

Former Batesville Resident Mary Weiggler Dies in New York
E C Timmerman and wife attended the funeral of Mrs Mary Weiggler in Newport Kentucky last Saturday. A former Batesville resident she died at her daughter’s home in Mt Vernon New York on Thursday April 6th at age 72. The remains were shipped to Newport and interred in Evergreen Cemetery on Saturday.
