A slate of Republican nominees for county and state offices is presented. Profiles highlight Frank W. Mondell for Congress, Suvrgard for State Senate, three state representatives, and county posts including Clerk William D. Jones Sheriff B F Wickwire Treasurer Mazie V Rhodes County Attorney Frank A. Little, and commissioners T. W. Olney C A Welch plus Assessor J Atherly and John L. Landfall.
The Republican central committee informs readers in the county that paper delivery is paid for to each address until election. Recipients may continue as paid subscribers after October 29 if they notify to avoid missing copies.
Surveyor G J Schenk has held office for years and given good satisfaction. No other candidate matches his qualifications. vote for him in November. For Coroner Dr M H Smith has served two years with county approval. a big majority is expected this fall. He is a physician in Basn with a hospital and prompt county response. vote for him on November 2.

Mr and Mrs H D Lingle of Lingle Wyoming visited General and Mrs T J McCoy the past few days. Lingle originated the colony in the Lingle district and the town bears his name. He is a booster for Wyoming and the Big Horn Basin and hopes to return.
The Republican Party swept Maine with Frederic H. Parkhurst elected governor by a record plurality, aided by broad women’s vote support. Republicans gained control of the state senate and county offices, while Democrats won twelve seats in the House of Representatives.
Joe Groshart and Miss Dorothy Crall were united in marriage here on Wednesday and will make their home in Basin. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. William Rannells of Hyattville and has lived in Basin for years. The groom is employed by the Yellowstone Motor Co. Both are popular in the younger social set and have many friends who send congratulations.
To Basin Wyoming, the officers and enlisted members of Troop F Cody extend sincere appreciation for kindness during their encampment. They thank Basin ladies for candy cake doughnuts and fruit, the Basin orchestra for music, and the fair association for courtesy at the fair grounds. Capt CO A Williams commands Troop F Cody Wyoming.
The board of county commissioners and the county assessor met last Saturday and made the levy for taxation. The total tax for Basin town including state and county tax is 0.06736. The county tax is lower than last year while city state and school tax is higher.
Attorney John P. Arnott returned on Wednesday from Torrington where he had been on legal business. He reports that section as prospering greatly with well kept farms, freshly painted houses, and excellent crops this season making it one of the state’s best agricultural units.
The duck season opened at sunrise with good early shooting and reports of more ducks than in years. The season runs until December 16. Bruce Taggart and Norma Josephine Christensen, both of Cowley, obtained a marriage license and were married last Saturday. Vic Oluon of Otto searched for a house, planning to move his family this winter for better schools.
The officers and men of Troop A Wyoming cavalry thank Basin and nearby residents for generosity to Camp Hugh L. Scott. Basin’s mess fund greatly aided Troop A’s dining facilities and treats were provided by the Mother and Friends committee. B. L. Tippetts Sr. and Mrs. Rachel A. Briggs of Cowley obtained a marriage license from the county clerk last Friday.
On Wednesday at St Andrew's Episcopal Church in Basin a morning wedding joined Thos McKinney of Denver Wyoming to Constance Skovgard, daughter of Senator and Mrs Simon Skovgard. The couple will reside in Denver, where the groom runs a farm and implements store.
James Morrison and Ella Long united in marriage at the Presbyterian parsonage with Rev Loosey officiating. The bride, a local young lady, and the groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo B Morrison, engineers at the municipal plant, will begin housekeeping at once.
Members of Troops E and H Sheridan express gratitude to Mothers and Friends and other ladies for cakes and meals donated on Monday and Tuesday evenings. They appreciated the home cooking and the spirit that made camp life more enjoyable.
Secretary May of the Chamber of Commerce announces a meeting at the club rooms next Wednesday evening. All members are urged to attend as important business will be discussed.
An organized theft spree last week hit Basin with widespread garden looting and store robberies. Police arrested Petro Martinis Juan Diego and three others, their Antlers room searched revealing stolen goods from the Golden Rule. burglars struck again overnight targeting silk dresses skirts and waists, doors entered by breaking glass and cutting screens, with no definite trace of suspects or loot.
The first Wyoming cavalry encampment ended yesterday with Sheridan troops departing on a special train and others on regular trains. Officers praise the treatment and results of the intensive training. The next encampment is planned for California in February.
Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Waugh and daughter Virginia and Mrs. D. R. C. Miller and son Reginald of Lincoln Nebraska visited Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Martin during the fair. They expressed pleasure with the Basin country and wished to return permanently soon.
Officers of the Wyoming cavalry held a Tuesday evening dance at fraternity hall honoring local citizens who entertained them last week. A large crowd attended and all reported a fine time.
