Midwest Oil Shifts Office Furniture to Pioneer Building

The Midwest Oil company shipped office furniture from Thermopolis to its Pioneer Building offices this week. A large portion was heavy safe equipment, requiring substantial labor for placement. Last Wednesday at the Acme theater the serial Neal of the Navy debuted to an appreciative crowd with vivid color pictures, and will be shown each Wednesday evening, drawing favorable comments.

Oregon returnee finds Basin home best in Hyattville country

From Oregon, D. W. Cook, longtime Hyattville resident, returned last Saturday declaring no place equal to the Basin. G. M. Booth of the Antlers rents space over the old Cook store to operate with the Antlers as business booms. Swastika Oil Company forms to develop Big Horn county oil fields with offices in Basin. incorporators include P. W. Mets, A. Zaring, Thos. M. Hyde, B. T. Joslin, and G. Hartigan. Capital stock set at 1000000.

Hog Contest Idea Draws County Interest At Fair

Josh Bilis proposes a county fair hog contest to fatten one pig fastest with birth verified by two disinterested parties. Open to all breeds, entrants can feed as they wish, and the winner takes all entered pigs. The concept aims to spark fair interest next year among hog raisers. Barber Shop Moves Amid Sales and Reassignments

Fred House has sold half of his two barber shops to Pat Leavitt. The shops will relocate near Whitmore's jewelry store by the Big Horn County Bank and Bear pool hall. Houge will manage the new shop while Leavitt runs the basement location in the Pi mower building.

Second Well On Pease Place Signals Oil Boom

Oil territory expands near Basin as the A L Pease place well reaches seventy feet, deepest in the state, with shooting soon and multiple wells planned nearby. Greybull fields see a 500 barrel per day well and rapid activity with nine rigs, while the Torchlight and Elk Basin areas show growth and new companies upcoming. In the Womans club, a program on home economics follows a meeting, and the community mourns the sudden death of three and a half year old Raymond Nicholson after an accident near his home, with burial in Burlington.

Zinn Builds Modern Four Room House in Basin

A. T. Zinn, who recently bought C. E. B. Shaw’s house and four lots, is now erecting a four room modern dwelling with Frank Judking as contractor. William (Misson) Hines of Casper Brewery visited Basin on business and stated the three Basin saloons will carry their products, with official notice forthcoming once beer arrives.

Fine Stock From Kansas City Bulls and Oats Harvest

R D Mercer returned from Kansas City with a car load of registered Hereford bulls. The Mercer family claims a top cattle herd and ongoing improvements. They thresh 50 acres of oats averaging 70 bushels per acre and 49 pounds per bushel. Two bundles went to Big Horn county fair with no prize, but won first prize for bundle grain at the state fair.

Hay Harvest on Basin Court House Square Yields Profit

Good Profit, Henry Payne finishes hay on the Basin court house square. From 6% acres he cut 23 tons in three cuttings. First cut damaged by hail. He earned 9 tons at $6 and 14 tons at $6.50, totaling $145. Expenses $60, profit $85 or $15.50 per acre. A typical day showing what can be done on a few tilled acres.
