Prominent Bankers Visit Basin Over Stockmen Loans Plan

A Wyoming banking delegation led by P J Qualey visited Basin from Buffalo and Ten Sleep to discuss the Wyoming Stockmen's Loan Co plan under War Finance and the government program. They reviewed local loans and aim to shift livestock collateral to government relief, freeing banks for ordinary lending and helping revive business statewide.

Kane man seeks wedding union of Cribbs and Waters

Richard L. Cribbs of Kane and Misa Bernice L. Waters of Lovell were married last Saturday afternoon at the Presbyterian manse with Rev. Leon A. Losey officiating. The couple left on a short bridal trip to Thermopolis and are described as the son and daughter of local families.

Fight For Children Over Matrimonial Battle

Mrs. Jamoa Allen of Burlington came to Basin to start divorce proceedings. While there the husband took the three children and placed them with a neighbor family. She returned, recovered the children by force, and the husband obtained deputy sheriff aid to pursue further action.

Family dispute ends with truce amid divorce steps

A man and his wife allegedly retreated after Mrs Allen confronted him with a shotgun. Sheriff Wickwire responded as tensions within the family surfaced. A district court divorce case will hear the troubles, with a truce currently in effect pending further airing.

Farewell Banquet for Atherlys at Louisa Lodge

Last Monday evening at Louisa Lodge O. E. S. a farewell banquet honored Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Atherly before their removal to Cheyenne where Mr. Atherly will serve as surveyor general. A varied program of musical numbers and recitation followed a decorated banquet table while lodge members offered good wishes for their new location.

Basin to Host Big Horn Basin Meetings in November

The Big Horn Basin Retailers association and the Big Horn Basin Press club plan joint meetings in Basin on November 3 and 4. A Chamber of Commerce committee met Tuesday to arrange visitor entertainment, with all basin newspapers expected to attend and retailers anticipating a record turnout.

Wyoming Leaders Plan Conference to Fight Nonpartisan League

Cheyenne Wyoming October 26. A state wide conference may be called to discuss combatting the nonpartisan league and to organize to defeat it in the 1922 election. Leaders from both major parties urge action with organizers and outreach to farmers to expose the league and prevent its spread in the state.

Methodist Aid Ladies Hold Fund Campaign Event

The Methodist aid group formed two teams to raise funds with the larger-earning group to be entertained by the other. Mrs. F. L. McNown led the winning team and Mrs. A. B. Moore hosted the entertainment at Mrs. R. G. Belton's home on Tuesday afternoon. About thirty ladies attended and enjoyed refreshments and a pleasant afternoon.

Basin High Seeks Conference Title at Greybull

The Basin high football team travels to Greybull this afternoon to face the local squad in a pivotal conference game. A big turnout is urged with student riders encouraged to attend to support the team as they aim to cinch the championship.

Frannie Independent Sold to P P Anderson

P P Anderson completed negotiations this week to purchase the Frannie Independent and will take possession on the first of the month. The paper will be printed at the local plant for now with Mrs. E Ley Haworth of Frannie named local editor and in charge of local news and subscriptions.

Rev J W Kingaley district superintendent will lead a quarterly conference at the Methodist church on Saturday evening at 7 40. He will also preach in Hyattville Sunday morning.

Pauley to Lead Charge in Local Surveyor Role

OC W Atherly set Pauley to manage local surveyor affairs before Pauley departs for Cheyenne to assume duties as surveyor general. Those seeking survey work were advised to contact Pauley at Atherly’s Pioneer Building office for services.

Basin Woman's Club Meets in Library for Repair Plan

The Basin Woman's club met Wednesday in the library with President Mrs. W. B. Hartigan presiding. The house committee was authorized to arrange kitchen repairs under the president's supervision. Mrs. W. C. Snow announced that 1920 Wyoming Club Woman subscriptions expired and urged a 100 percent 1921 renewal. The program was in charge of the group.

American sculpture and paintings discussed by club members

Mesdames Denny and Brome led a short meeting on American sculpture and pictures. Miss Skovgard read The Rose and the Nightingale and answered an encore. Miss Baumhoefner presented an informative paper on American pictures and their painters. Refreshments were served by hostesses Atherly, Extra and Snow.

The Big Horn Merc. Co. will close Monday for stock checks and price marking. Manager John Seyster says the Tuesday sale will be the largest and most bargain filled in the store’s history in the Basin country.

Ada Patterson Found Mentally Defective After Suicide Attempt

Ada Patterson of Greybull faced a hearing before Court Commissioner J. R. Bonwell on a charge of being mentally defective. A jury found her mentally defective and committed her to the home for detectives at Lander for care to restore health, after she swallowed poison last week and sought death.

Basin Football Pros Climb Conference Standings With Thermopolis Win

Straight football powered Basin to a 35 to 21 victory over Thermopolis last Friday as Hanlon kicked five goals and Basin forged through for large gains. Basin shares first place with Worland at 6-6-6 in a tight conference race after beating Cody 87 to 0 later in the week. local rooters and visiting fans packed the stands.

A district court petition seeks probate of Louisa M. Cody widow of Buffalo Bill William F. Cody. Executors named are J. M. Schwoob and C. Parks Jr with Judge Metz as alternate. Personal property about 15000 dollars and real estate around 80000 dollars. Remainder to adopted grandchildren Garlow and others equally, with specific small bequests to Bann and Boal. The will also directs sale of Buffalo Bill portraits and related artworks including Alas Poor Yorick Drifting Good Morning and The Conquest of the Prairie.

Prices Slashed on Burlington Dining Car Fare Across Menu

The Burlington route cuts dining car prices for coffee tea cocoa eggs and toast bread and butter and baked potatoes by 10 to 33 percent effective immediately.
