Senate Accepts Ten Reservations On Peace Treaty

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee reopened consideration and adopted ten revised reservations to the peace treaty led by Lodge. The package requires three other great powers to accept qualifications before ratification becomes effective, with interpretations echoed in Article X. Democratic leaders opposed changes, while Republicans lined behind a compromise aimed at majority support.

The Security Bridge Co. speeds ditching work for a gas line from Hidden Dome. Operations across Flagstaff hill mix hand and machine labor as trucks arrive for pipe hauling. Pipe unloads at Manderson Basin and Greybull with rapid fill of the yard south of the depot. Superintendent T. B. Armstrong plans a large workforce to lay pipe as soon as hauled.

Automobile Licenses Under New 40c Per HP Rule

The secretary of state forwards new automobile registration forms and outlines fees. Renewals from last year retain numbers if applied before December 1. Pleasure cars cost 40 cents per horsepower, trucks and trailers 75 cents per 100 pounds, and motor bicycles five dollars each.

Hilton Wins Yellowstone Highway Contract for Manderson to Washakie

Contractor Hilton of Lingle Wyoming, the low bidder, arrived last Saturday to begin the Yellowstone highway section from Manderson to the county line. Hayden is the resident engineer in charge, and work is expected to continue through winter with a completion date not later than May 1.

Well Known Early Settler Harvey Perkins Dies at 84

Harvey Style Perkins aged 84 years and 2 months died at his son John J. Perkins’ home near Otto after a long illness. He was a Greybull valley pioneer well known in the Big Horn Basin and survived by two sons and three daughters. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 pm from his residence with Rev. C Wardlaw officiating. burial in Otto cemetery.

Pageant Planned by Basin Woman's Club for Wyoming's 60th

Basin Woman's club prepares a Christmas Eve pageant at the Rex Theatre to mark Wyoming's 60th anniversary of statehood on December 10. The program traces Wyoming history through a series of elaborate scenes with committees coordinating the effort and details to follow in the next issue.

Washington October 22 labor withdrew from the national industrial conference after failing to secure adoption of a collective bargaining resolution. Samuel Gompers announced the move, following Secretary Lane and President Wilson’s appeals for harmony as the public and capital groups vow to keep the talks alive and the conference to reconvene.

The Roosevelt memorial drive closes next Monday proclaimed Roosevelt Day. Schools statewide hold exercises and collect for a memorial while county drives finish the effort. Basin women finish the drive tomorrow with hopes for many small gifts, and contributions may be left with treasurer A. B. Martin.

Attorney Wilton Hall Heads to Boulder Colorado for Treatment

Attorney Wilton Hall and his wife traveled to Boulder Colorado on Tuesday for Mr Hall to begin a treatment at a sanitarium there. He has suffered liver and kidney troubles and will receive care similar to that given at Battle Creek Michigan. Friends hope for his speedy recovery to full health.

The Wyoming state highway commission will accept bids at its October 29 meeting for 7 miles of the Basin Greybull road gravel surface at an estimated $50,000. Additional awards include ½ mile Thermopolis Lucerne road, Dover cut removal in Hot Springs county, paving Casper Salt Creek road to the Platte, Yellow Stone to Casper creek, and 8 miles Newcastle Sundance road at about $45,000. Total project value around $250,000.
