Death by own action ends Hitchings life on Trap per creek

Chas C Hitchings aged 80 on Trapper Creek near Chimney Rock died Tuesday morning from a self inflicted gunshot. Coroner's inquest not held though sworn testimony recorded. He left a wife Maud Davis and two daughters Clara and Bernis. Despondency over debt and financial affairs cited as cause. Relatives from Iowa expected today. funeral likely at Shell or Greybull.

Red Cross Election Set for Big Horn County Chapter

The annual election of the executive committee for the Big Horn County chapter of the American Red Cross will be held October 22 at 4 o clock in the Red Cross room at the courthouse. All chapter members within the jurisdiction may vote. Branch members may vote in their branch election. This is your meeting, don't fail to attend.

Fire destroys paint warehouse owned by Lincoln man

Fire last Saturday morning at about four o clock engulfed and burned the building occupied by H. Whitmore as a paint warehouse. The structure burned completely to the ground and Mr Whitmores law has not yet been determined. The building was owned by H K B Sawyer of Lincoln Nebraska.

Wyoming Gas Co Seeks Higher Domestic Rates for Basin Greybull

The Wyoming Gas Co has applied to the Wyoming Public Service Commission for permission to raise domestic gas rates in Basin and Greybull. A hearing is set for November 3 where interested parties may present their views.

Roosevelt Memorial Drive Sets Weeklong Fund Raiser

The Roosevelt Memorial drive starts next Monday and continues through the week with schools in the state observing one day. Big Horn County’s quota is 510 dollars, and the aim is broad participation with many small gifts rather than a few large ones. Subscriptions may be sent to A. B. Martin, treasurer, with credit to the subscriber’s district.

Ferris Buys Interest in Local Loan Company

R. R. Ferris purchased C. H. Fitzpatrick's share in the Wale & Loan Co. He came from Lewistown Montana and, after moving to town, decided to acquire the remaining interests. Ferris is an experienced abstractor and has made many friends here. The firm’s policy is outlined in an ad elsewhere in the issue.

The Wyoming Children's Home Society appoints Martin T. Beckett of Shoshoni as financial agent to implement a pledge card system aiming for a fixed annual income of 20000 dollars. He tours the state naming county chairmen and shifting focus from stockmen and wool growers to fraternal groups and schools. Mrs. Zela Murphy of Basin leads Big Horn County’s quota effort, calling former contributors between October 15 and 30 to solicit support for Wyoming's dependent children.

Married Tuesday at Billings Two Basin Residents Wed

Arthur Painter and Maud Herron of Basin were married in Billings on Tuesday. Painter works as an oil driller and right bower for Scott Mills. Maud Herron, sister of Mrs B F Wickwire, has lived in Basin for years and the couple reside at Ellis flats after returning home Wednesday. Many friends send best wishes via The Republican. The reorganized Bohemian club plans its frat dance of the season a week from tomorrow night.

The Methodist Episcopal Church for Community Service in Basin Wyoming outlines site at Sixth and B, cost estimate 20000 with 18000 pledged and 12000 remaining. It argues present building is inadequate, seeks a modern, well ventilated auditorium, contemporary Sunday School facilities, social floor with dining and meeting spaces, and public access for community use to elevate the town.

City Council Plans Revenue Increase and Fire Hose Update

The council discussed replacing saloon license funds with new taxes by licensing soft drink places and pool halls to cover an annual $3,600 deficit. They approved purchasing four hundred feet of new hose and pledged that no one may remove hose from the fire house, keeping a hose cart ready for emergencies.

Daylight Abduction Granted Sudden Wedding Shock at Markham House

Four masked men abducted Roy M. Delaney from the Markham House as he left the Basin hotel with his bride after a quiet wedding. The ceremony for Miss Charlotte E. Stiles and Roy M. Delaney occurred at the parsonage with Rev. R. M. Jones officiating. A breakfast reception followed for close friends before the incident halted further afterglow.

The Yellow Stone Motor Company is formed to assume the Lee Automotive Co assets. George B. McClellan is president, M. G. Wild general manager, and O. Lee Mayes local manager. The firm aims to provide Ford sales and service with experienced staff and plans a third Basin service station in Greybull.

The house public lands committee reversed an earlier move and restored to the oil leasing bill a provision granting states 46 percent of royalties immediately after collection. Jailbreak at local jail as two inmates escape

Ward Blackburn and Richard Cotton escaped from the jail yesterday afternoon after breaking a door lock. Sheriff Wickwire was away, Deputy Gould left with Drillinger for medical treatment and found the others missing upon return. Herman Buess remained jailed. Authorities alerted along the line and expect quick recapture.

Pansy Mackenzie Weds Ivan Charles Schroll

Pansy Mackenzie, daughter of Mr and Mrs C F Mackenzie of Greybull, married Ivan Charles Schroll yesterday morning at the Mackenzie home. Rev R M Jones of Basin Methodist church officiated. Guests included the Wyman couples of Trapper Lodge. They plan a brief trip to Denver before returning to Greybull.

C. H. Fitzpatrick sold his interest in the Western Title & Loan Co to R. R. Ferris and bought an interest in the First State Bank of Greybull with his wife. They will move to Greybull to pursue banking. A Basin banker praised him as the best abstracter he has seen.
