Big Gas Well Fire Extinguished In Basin Field

A major gas well fire in Little Buffalo basin was put out by noon last Monday after engineers redirected gas through a large elbow pipe. The blaze forced a 150 foot safety perimeter and required a large force. meanwhile a new gas well near the same site, estimated at 20 to 26 million cubic feet per day, was brought in at about 1,800 feet depth. Six rigs operate in Grass Creek and three in Little Gurffalo as land development surges ahead with a new company planning a quarter million dollar investment.

Salem Chautauqua Circuit Signs and Returns

Registration Board to Meet Five Days Next Week

The board of registration will convene next Tuesday in the Gibson building and street, and remain in session for five days. All eligible voters must register to vote in the November election, with urging to register during the coming week.

Sheriff Captures George Lee After Hyatville Theft

Sheriff Wickwire was notified that George Lee had stolen a six shooter from Hyattville and possibly a small bay horse. He was pursued by Ota Allen and arrested about ten miles from Hyattville, then brought to the county jail. Lee may have obtained the horse in the same manner as the gun.

Armeling 35th Birthday Noted With Dinner Party

Last Tuesday marked the 35th birth anniversary of H. R. Armeling of the south bench. Mrs. Armeling hosted a dinner at 8 oclock for guests D. E. Lewis A. W. Goons G. W. Black Neal Anderson Dr M. H. The meal was among the finest in the county and guests stayed to midnight for bridge and whist, presenting a large box of candy to the celebrant.

Mail Route Change Requested by Lower Road Residents

A petition from residents on the lower road between Otto and Burlington urged Congressman Mandel and County Clerk Lou Minkesley to shift mail service from Otto to Burlington via the lower route. Woman's Club Meeting at Fraternity Hall Prepares Program

The Woman's club, led by President Mrs. Thos. M. Hyde, met at Fraternity hall at 3 PM on Wednesday. Committees reported and domestic science was added to public school credits. Mrs. J. B.
