Troops Quell Miner Strike in Carlinville Pool Hall

Federal forces moved into Carlinville as Maj Warren Dean led the Fifteenth Cavalry to seize the town hall and canvass miners. From 72 names 52 were chosen and sent to Fort Mackenzie. Union officials then urged a vote to end the strike which was unanimously approved.

Mercer Bros of Paint Rock purchased Claude and Red Walon's entire herd totaling about 1109 cattle. They shipped roughly 1000 head to New Mexico for winter with Bob Boweney leading. he will oversee and report through the Republican. Walp Bros plan to enter large scale sheep farming with about a thousand head at Red Oak ranch.

Ex soldiers of Basin Wyoming are urged to join the American Legion and help organize a Basin unit. A meeting for all ex-service men and the Basin community is set for Thursday December 4 at 2 PM in the Chamber of Commerce building to form the local Legion chapter.

Last evening T. E. Armstrong found his car faulty after returning from Greybull and left a new blanket on the hood. A party from another car took the blanket while he was away. The thief is known and must return the blanket at once or prosecution will follow.

Manderson residents approved incorporation by 38 to 23 on Wednesday. The five organizers will begin proceedings to secure water light and other public utilities as the town seeks growth and future influx of residents.

Attorney in the Toils In Wyoming Doe Kill Case

Game Warden Louis G. Jones arrested County Attorney Rouel Walton of Evanston and four others for killing a doe and fawn. Walton, claiming illness, posted $50 bail and was ordered to return Dec. 10 for trial. Two men were fined 75 dollars each, another 25 dollars plus costs. Venison was sold and $16 was sent to the state game fund.

Cashier Keyes Defaulter in $16000 Bank Funds

Worland reports cashier B. J. Keys of the First National Bank arrested for defrauding funds totaling 16000. He confessed and part of the loss is covered by his surety bond. Directors will cover the remainder. Keys was highly regarded in the community. Other officers of the bank named include IC W. Erwin president Porter Lanm vice president Robert Steele and R. W. Lancaster assistant cashier.
