Basin residents are urged to support the new gym built with the high school, praised for its full facilities and locker rooms. A recent basketball game drew a large crowd as students show strong athletic potential, with suggestions offered to improve safety and access.
The next Basin lyceum program will be held December 4 at Basin High School gymnasium. Lillian Kingedort and Mary Goodrich will headline as reader and violinist with Regina Max and Mabel Belle Green also featured. The event is billed as one of the strongest musical companies from the Midland lyceum bureau with admission charged.
Representative Mondell of Wyoming, Republican leader, was confined to bed after a fall caused by a broken crutch on his home stairs. The extent of injuries was not yet known, marking the third accident since Congress adjourned last June.
Logan Chester Hoover married Leona Virginia Perkins at the Pease apartments on Wednesday afternoon with Justice Bonwell officiating. The groom is a rancher from the Greybull valley and the bride is H L Perkins’s daughter from near Otto. Relatives and intimate friends witnessed the ceremony. The Republican joins well wishes for the couple.
Mesdames McKone and Nadler hosted a library dance on Wednesday evening with invited guests reporting a very fine time.
Call issued for the seventeenth annual Wyoming Wool Growers association convention to be held in Casper Wyoming January 6 7 8 1921 Sessions start 10 a m January 6. The wool industry faces low product prices and seeks a protective tariff and better marketing and financing. Speakers will discuss federal reserve help state land rentals and tax valuations and a reduction in livestock values for 1921 with continued coverage on page one.
The Manderson display shows 133 sheaves of wheat and diverse grain varieties including Marquis hard and soft Blue Stem Turkey Red Bearded and Beardless club Canadian Seven Head and Australian macaroni. Oats barley and sugar beets fruit vegetables and melons also shown. judges ate the melons. The organizers challenge competitors for nineteen twenty one.
At about 10 30 Friday night four Mexicans overpowered Jailer R A Gould, slammed him with a sash weight, and fled the county jail after locking him out. The jailer freed himself and alerted authorities, but no trace of the escapees has been found. Mack and Bradley, two white prisoners, were secured in cells before the attack.
Interior department authorization of several leases in Salt Creek field marks a major step toward resolving legal disputes among multiple producing companies. After a Taft withdrawal and Congress leasing bill, claims are being sorted and wells already drilled may reopen as leases are granted rapidly. Union services were held at the Methodist church yesterday.
Community farmers are asked to inform the Hasin Chamber of Commerce about their surplus crops including alfalfa and sweet clover seed. Secretary W. H. May states that knowing quantities quality and condition will help match sellers with buyers and improve marketing assistance.
On the night of the 12th County Commissioner and Mrs T W Olney gave a wedding dance at the Whaley school house on Shell Creek. Mr and Mrs F A Little of Basin attended. Refreshments were served and guests reported a fine time.
Lawrence Fisher and Henrietta Nelson of Minneapolis wed at Justice Bonwell's office on Monday morning and plan to live in Greybull. Henry Bunch of Manderton spent a few days in town this week.
A complaint before Justice Bonwell charges Emil Rech and Jake Rech of Shell Creek with grand larceny for stealing 17 head of Spear Bros. sheep. A warrant was issued and they are to be apprehended by the sheriff today.
The Basin Chamber of Commerce outlines help for farmers to sell surplus crops, especially hay, and reduce freight rates. It announces a December 8 meeting at 7 40 p m to discuss marketing and transportation strategies and invites farmers and businesspeople to participate.
Henry Daniels a Greybull teacher died last Friday night from asphyxiation while bathing. His remains were taken to Crete Nebraska for interment the following day.
J. H. Montgomery entertained at dinner at the Markham last Sunday evening. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. S. M. McKone, R. B. West, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Nadler, Mr. Rumer, and Miss Viva Phelan.
A Tuesday evening meeting of southern Big Horn County farmers in the courthouse farmers room discussed marketing potatoes locally. L D Magruder and Elliott of Louis Potato Co spoke on issues, with talks on organizing for direct marketing to the fruit exchange and potential for a canning factory and dehydration plant collaboration.
The Douglas Delicatessen yesterday served dine at home with quality viands for the occasion. Turkey luncheon was served from 11 to 1 and faultlessly prepared, drawing favorable comments from patrons. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas run a noteworthy establishment deserving commendation for enterprise.
Harold M. Lockard and Miss Mary N. Love both of Greybull were united in marriage at the Presbyterian Manse Wednesday evening by Rev. Leon A. Laney.
