Greybull defeated Basin 45 to 14 on the local field as Basin was without captain Oddie Gorrell who went to Casper for his father’s death. Paddy Reagan refereed the game and Cowley beat Worland 40 to 20 for the Basin pennant.
The Big Horn Basin County Farm Bureau elected new officers at Basin on November 17. Delegates from across the county attended, discussing pest control for grasshoppers and county funding for pesticides. Talks covered university and bureau roles, livestock issues, and plans to streamline agricultural exhibits at the County Fair.
County Farm Bureau members discussed premiums and revenues diverted from the county fair to the Farm Bureau The group favored the secretary having more leverage to secure commercial exhibits and proposed an executive Farm Bureau member on the Fair Board Mr Oliver Irwin was chosen to represent the Farm Bureau The Basin Community Organization hosted a 5 oclock dinner and honorary membership was offered to the serving staff The meeting continued with talks on the Non Partisan League and Farm Bureau benefits for farmers and stockmen
Reports from Lovell say two cars were demolished on Wednesday evening near the bridge. Fred Diffel and Frank Borzzych collided, likely due to a right of way dispute, with Tess Adams injured and a man cut badly.
Odo Gorrell aged 88 was killed in Casper when a freight car passed over his legs after he was thrown under a train. His son Od and step-daughter Mrs Ernest Atkinsop left for Casper for the funeral as doctors fought to save him. The accident was blamed on a hustler. the community extends sympathy to his relatives here.
B P C EB members are asked to meet Friday night November 25 at 7 30 in the Greybull Commercial Club rooms to plan the new lodge installation. Ed Landers Lee and Carl B Armeling of the south bench will entertain today in honor of Miss Margeret Blarth and mother and Mina Happert. J H Montgomery returns from California for a visit and to attend Duwinows interests. Mr and Mrs Erneat Atkinson and Mrs Sprague depart for Casper due to the death of Odo Gorrell HK V Allen leaves for Houston after a short visit.
The Union of California considers coming into the area for heavy oil development. A contract to supply Canadian Pacific with fuel oil is noted, with shipments imagined to Canada and Vancouver by tanker. Geologists and field men are expected soon, as Ohio Oil and Basin interests expand testing and drilling in the Big Horn Basin.
The Grand Exalted Ruler dispenses a charter for a Greybull Elks lodge number 1491. Judge T Blake Kennedy of Cheyenne will lead tonight’s ceremonies in Greybull to organize the lodge and guide initial activities. Initial membership is about 260 with aims to double soon.
Yesterday union Thanksgiving services were held in the Episcopal church with the Methodist and Presbyterian congregations joining. Rev L A Losey read scripture and Rev Edwin Bowling delivered a sermon as a double quartet and Earl Kee provided an instrumental encore.
Burlington Basin Road officials challenge subscribers to cover a $3500 shortfall as the Basin Chamber of Commerce orders steel culverts to be shipped. Secretary W. H. May and assistant K. K. Kimbro solicit prompt donations, urging sacrifice and cheerful support for the critical project.
Bliss Bayne chief deputy of the state game and fish department has been confined at Basin hospital for ten days with erysipelas He is moved to the Markham house this morning and is expected to recover and return to Cheyenne soon Friends are urged to visit during his convalescence
Frank Rasch and Miss Chasey Allred of Lovell obtained a county marriage license on Wednesday, formalizing their union.
The couple met on Wednesday and were married that morning by Justice Bonwell at his residence. They left for Lovell that afternoon to establish their home.
The Appollo Club was organized at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Scott in Greybull. Mrs. M. H. Smith of Basin was named president, Mrs. J. H. Hartzell of Greybull vice president, and Mrs. P. W. Knudsen of Greybull secretary. The group will meet twice monthly to study music and its history for the 1921 22 season under a committee led by Mrs. W. A. Mortimer of Basin. The first regular meeting is set for Monday evening November 28 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Hartzell with the topic Musical Forms.
The Basin high school football team defeated Thermopolis 35 26 last Friday in Thermopolis. Basin players traveled together and displayed a strong effort through aggressive play and determined defense to secure the win.
In district court Carrie Crouch and Edwin Crouch appeared for a hearing. the court granted a divorce and awarded a maiden name restoration and attorneys fees. The Naturalization run lists several applicants becoming U S citizens with dates and places noted, while Judge Metz scheduled three more cases for the May term due to technicalities and swapped court duties with Judge Brown for Cody proceedings.
In a letter from Wm Gibson of Boulder Cole. he says the physician he consulted has returned and he will be examined soon. His friends here hope for a favorable report and that Billy may be restored to health and with us again soon.
A. & Mercar of Hyattville reports cattle in good shape on the return from the J. Joe country where a large herd was fed this winter. Weather snow across the basin affects stockmen, but condition remains favorable.
A gas explosion Wednesday at Lovell severely burns Mrs. F. H. Grunwald and injures her son in the Popular building rear apartments. Grunwald escapes unharmed. the wife and boy are in critical and serious condition. Main leak blamed. the Popular store likely requires total rebuilding.
Gilbert G. Jones, deputy internal revenue collector, has been called to Denver for special government work checking pipelines across the United States. He is currently in Illinois and will be replaced locally until his return. Friends note his effectiveness under the Harding administration.
The funeral for John P. Arnott was held last Friday at 2:30 pm from the Episcopal church with Dean J. J. Dixon conducting the service. Mrs. Mark H. Smith sang, Masonic rites were performed by Temple Lodge No. 20, W. M. Simon Skovgard in charge, and burial followed at Mount View cemetery with pallbearers F. A. Little C. H. Harkins R. B. West C. A. Zaring T. C. Marshall and J. H. Neville.
