Douglas Convicted in Second Trial After Deliberation

A Big Horn Wyoming jury returned a guilty verdict in a second trial of M R Douglas on aggravated assault and battery. The case featured detailed testimony from John Cundiff, Deputy Cusack, Dr C Dana Carter and Al Blake, with a new venire drawn after initial deadlock. Douglas received three months in county jail, a $500 fine, plus costs, and a reprimand to Deputy Cusack for absence at the first proceeding.

Fine Entertainment in Basin Features Mrs Gearhart Morrison and Miss Doggett

Fine entertainment at Praternity hall Monday night drew a full house. Mrs Gearhart Morrison, reader, impressed with a remarkable voice and natural delivery, while Miss Florence Doggett’s harp playing demonstrated flawless training. Both artists earned warm Basin welcomes upon return. Dr G M Traugh of Otto was in town Tuesday.

Council Grants Licenses At Monday Night Session

The town council met in regular session with Miy or Booth and Councilmen Barnes and Zane present. Several bills against the town were allowed. Liquor license applications from O. W. McNay Josiah Cook Roy Armeling and J. H. Bailey were approved and the commissioners were recommended to grant the licenses. A Grady petition to open a plumber shop in the former California Fruit building was approved and the clerk ordered to issue the license upon payment of the fee. The meeting adjourned with no further business.

Woman's Club Meeting Discusses Hebrews and Mohammedism

An interesting Wo man’s club gathering was held last Wednesday afternoon with many members present. Papers read included History of the religion and government of the Hebrews by Mrs. W. C. Snow and Mohammedism by Miss Juliette Collins. Refreshments were arranged by a committee of four members.

A Fine Time at Episcopal Guild Dance

The Episcopal guild hosted a hard times dance at Fraternity hall last Friday night. A large crowd enjoyed queer and original costumes, especially hobos, adding much merriment. Lunch was served as the event ended, and all attendees reportedly had the time of their lives.

Thanksgiving Services at Baptist Church This Year

The annual Thanksgiving services will be held at the Baptist church at 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving day. Rev. H. W. Albone will preach the sermon. Mrs. G. A. Harris and R. A. Strandberg will sing solos and the united choirs will render suitable anthems with a high musical order.

The first of a series of winter parties for Basin and vicinity was held last Friday at Mrs J J Rech's home. Guests enjoyed a delightful evening with dancing and elegant refreshments, marking a rare gathering of Basin's older residents and promising more such events to bring the community closer.

Progress Dinner Minutes Reveal Local Debate and Road Plans

At the Progress dinner W.8. Collings presided in Ridgelys absence. Minutes were read and approved. Discussions covered woolen mill correspondence, road work for Basin to Otto, and a dairy stock note from Yellowstone Creamery. A Wyoming Publicity fund request prompted a $25 wire. parcels post dispute led to motions and adjournment without final action.
