The Progress association met at the Aptlers with Mayor Berry presiding to accept a tender of ties robinls for the club's rooms. Plans covered fixtures, lighting by the city, and display projects for settlers. Committees were created for furnishings, advertising, road marking, and agricultural exhibits as talks included beet factory prospects and homeseeker rates. Government versus Torchlight locators heard in district court
The government against the Torchlight locators was heard this week before Clerk R. H. Ahrwens with D. T. Joslin as stenographer. Wm. A. Murphy and H. B. Durham represented the government, while Clark J. Tisdell of Muskogee Oklahoma spoke for the claimants to the oil land. The matter is among the county’s most valuable claims and a final hearing will occur next month. Local interest remains high and patent issuance is hoped for, enabling development of the land on a large scale if secured.
