Rancher Threatens Bank, Obliterates Note Then Leaves

Asher Knepper entered the State Bank of Hulet Wyoming and leveled a rifle at cashier Storm, forcing return of a promissory note. He tore up the note outside, handed the rifle to bystanders, and went home. Knepper was arrested, charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, released on bond. He says the note was given to his mother-in-law for a worthless $500 check and later deposited for collection.

Lumber Yard Sold To Denver Investor

J A Berry of Denver bought Jenkins Lumber Company and will form a new firm to take over the business with Berry taking immediate possession. Jenking plans to stay in Basin with interests in Worland. A demented barefoot man wandered Basin streets, failed to explain his actions, visited the newspaper office and Dr. Carter before being jailed and later showing rationality, unsure how he arrived or where his shoes and clothing are.

Demented man found wandering, frozen extremities care begun

Ellis Loughrey, believed resident of Clark's Fork country, was brought to Basin hospital after wandering from Burlington to Worland and Greybull. He has severely frozen hands and feet with toes to be amputated. He claims Portland, Oregon as home and says sunstroke in the Philippines impaired his sanity. Local efforts seek to contact his relatives.

Shooting at Sheridan Leaves Two Miners Wounded

In Sheridan on November 13 two coal miners George Moerah and John Suto were shot by three hoboes after riding a box car from Helena. The assailants ordered them to surrender, opened fire as they fled, wounding both men who were hospitalized with one likely to die. authorities pursue the suspects.

Owing to cold weather and a snow storm the work at the power plant is greatly retarded. A canvas covering is used at the settling basin to allow continuation. Contractors are making every effort to finish the work as soon as possible.

W. H. Holman, a well known barber of Worland, arrived yesterday with appendicitis and is to undergo surgery this morning at Basin hospital performed by Dr. Carter. His many friends here wish him a speedy recovery.

An unnamed man from Crosby was brought to Basin hospital from Thermopolis this morning suffering from typhoid fever. He is described as a county charge and his identity could not be learned at the time.

William D Cook left Wednesday for Billings where it is understood he will marry Miss Mil Me Knol today. The groom is a valued employee of Josiah Cook and has been in the Basin country for years. The bride is handsome and accomplished and well known to many residents. The young couple will return to Basin to begin housekeeping with many friends wishing them a happy married life.
