Progress Club Revival Marks First Meeting After Hiatus

The Progress Club resumed activities with its first gathering after a long drought of meetings. Members gathered to discuss plans, elect officers, and set a schedule for upcoming events.

Officers Elected And Campaign To Attract Settlers Initiated

The Basin Progress association held its first meeting in months at the Antlers hotel and elected officers, with Mayor J. A. Berry as president and plans to quickly organize a campaign to attract settlers. Members urged a headquarters, advertising literature, road improvements, and a coordinated effort with nearby towns to promote the Basin region. Other items included discussion of a sugar factory, a possible oil refinery, and steps to publicize Montana advantages to Canada and Colorado migrants.

Woman's Club Holds Interesting Meeting with Fund Drive

More than fifty members attended last Wednesday afternoon as Mrs Tallon chaired the Red Cross committee which plans door to door pledges the day before Thanksgiving. Reports on domestic science equipment put cost at 276 dollars and urged funds. A dues collection committee was named. Memberships for five women were approved. The program featured remarks on legislation led by Mrs Harris and papers on blue sky laws public utilities and workmen compensation. A violin solo by Harry Hime accompanied by Kathleen O Neil followed. Refreshments closed the meeting.

Death of Albert Smith in Oklahoma Railway Accident

Clarence Smith of Thermopolis received word Tuesday of the death of his brother Albert Smith in Oklahoma, a railway accident. Bert Smith was well known to Basia and had many friends who will mourn his untimely end.
