Death of Robert W McIntosh in Basin and local election in Sheridan

Robert W McIntosh died at Basin hospital after a week with typhoid fever at thirty. Native of Napoleon Ohio, ex assistant postmaster, survived by mother and two sisters. Funeral in Basin with Woodmen and Spodox club members in attendance. Body sent to Napoleon for interment. Election in Sheridan under new government saw Charles A Kutcher elected mayor by 142 votes amid strong women’s turnout.

Council adjourns as bills debated and water intake questioned

Town council reviewed and approved several bills including one for G W Black Co and considered lodging the liquor license application of M R Douglas with the county commissioners. A Katz Craig intake pipe dispute raised issues of plan versus execution and potential freezing concerns.

Prisoners Sentenced After Guilty Pleas Wednesday

The court sentenced Steve Brown to not less than 15 nor more than 20 years for killing the Greek near Kare. William Frasier, captured in Montana, received 12 to 16 months for robbing the Luxus Bar. Mike Kreaslok and August Koneceny, found guilty of robbing a powder house, were fined and served jail time. Kreso zlok’s family and Piney creek ranch noted as context. August Koneceny got 30 days, a $50 fine, and half the costs.

Box Social Aids School Basketball Fund

Pupils from sixth to eighth grades held a Friday night box social in the Pease building to raise funds for the basketball program. Colonel Jackson served as auctioneer as attendees enjoyed a very fine evening and contributed a neat sum for the fund.

Guilty of Larceny In Owl Creek Powder Heist

Mike Kreszick and August Kone eney charged with stealing powder from Owl Creek Coal Co. near Crosby were arraigned and pled not guilty. H. 8. Ridgely and BR. B. West prosecuted, J. P. Arnott and C. A. Baring defended. Jury found them guilty and fined the powder value at 4.60, with standard jail sentence.

New Wheat Tuy Exhibit At Buffum Show Draws Attention

Prof Buffum presenting a new beardless wheat mutation in a local exhibit surpassing No. 17 wheat for potential next year. The beardless emmer, tested on potato ground, yielded 56 2 3 bushels per acre and promises higher yield, drought and cold resistance.

Elite theatre presents refined Basin shows under Harmon

Manager Carl Harmon has staged premier entertainment in Basin this week. B. R. Matteson has overhauled the projector and wiring improving picture clarity and removing flicker. A fine program is planned for tomorrow night, promising a high quality show.

Bangham Family Relocates to Iowa for Store Interest

Lou Bangham and family moved to Anita Iowa after purchasing an interest in a store. During their residence here they made many friends who regret their departure from our country. We wish them prosperity in their new home and hope they visit the Basin again soon.

Fish Car Sends Fish to Beaver Creek

Government fish car reached Greybull on Monday. County Clerk Enders secured 29 cans of fish and sent them to Beaver Creek for proper distribution. Frank Gapén could not handle the fish for Paint Rock, so the fish were turned over to Mr. Enders.

Judge Matson to hear State v Doug lan case next Monday

Judge R N Matson of the First district returns Monday to hear the case State versus M R Dougan charged with assault on John Cunduff. Judge Parme Kee was disqualified for this case. Jury reports the following Monday afternoon for service with Gilmore Haglin serving as court reporter.

Large Attendance At The Antlers Last Wednesday

Large attendance marked the Progress club dinner held last Wednesday with President Ridgely in the chair. Letters discussed included forwarding exhibit car registrant lists, a request to endorse a governor’s eastbound special train, and confirming the governor’s possible participation. Members debated road, woolen mill, canal, and infrastructure issues while praising the Progress club’s ongoing local projects.
