Billings Boosters Visit Basin For Mutual Talks
Nearly forty leaders from Billings commercial and progress groups toured Basin on a three coach special. They were shown Basin sights, dined at Booth's restaurant, and heard Basin officials urge closer ties and an agricultural fair booth for Basin. Speeches praised Basin citizenship and prospects as a potential hub for the region. A large list of local and Billings sponsors accompanied the visit. The return trip left Basin at 2 pm with stops at Manderson Worland and Kirby.

Old Timers Meet in Thermopolis Town Celebration
Thermopolis welcomes pioneers and old timers from the surrounding territory for an Old Timers gathering. A minstrel show, a free dance, and a banquet at Emery featured speeches and toasts by long-time Wyoming residents led by toastmaster Joe Magill. Speakers included Mrs. Margaret Price and Dr. R. W. Hale among others.

Shooting At Sheep Camp On Lake Creek
Last Friday at a sheep camp on Lake Creek near Owl Creek a quarrel led to Richard Frazer shooting Samuel Schnafer with a 32 caliber revolver. Schnafer, age about 25, was wounded below the heart and in the liver, transported to Thermopolis then Basin. Frazer, about 60, was jailed at Basin after travel by Sheriff Wickwire and Prosecuting Attorney West. A felonious assault charge was filed against Frazer as Schnafer’s condition improved.

Deputy Ed Cole charged John Grobaskie with an attempted reported incident involving Clara and Violet McManus at Lucerne. The grammar school field meet at the fairy grounds Friday drew a large crowd and the events were highly satisfactory. high school athletes gave an exceptional exhibition.

Murder of Fremont County election judge near Thermopolis
Jim McEllery, serving as election judge, was shot returning home with a ballot box. Assailant O'dman Staples hid in brush and opened fire as McEllery pleaded for peace. McEllery died that night after being taken to town. Staples was arrested and to face a Thermopolis hearing. The weapon was a 45 90 Winchester.
