News Drilling to Commence Grass Creek Field

Drill crews move to Grass Creek Field for planned exploration. Company officials say operations will begin next week under state permits and may define future development options for the site.

Rigs Move Into Wew Field Near Basin Oil Area

Reporter visits Grass Creek and Little Buffalo basins west of Basin and notes heavy rig activity. Ohio Oil and Valentine interests deploy standard rigs. Harrison interests sold holdings. Little Buffalo includes about twenty sections deemed good oil land nine miles southeast of Meeteetse and fifty miles from Worland. Coal beds, water access, and deep prospects cited. multiple rigs arriving from Worland and Kirby Creek, with extensive surveying and leasing underway.

Farmers' Union Forms Basin Central Mercantile

The Farmers' Union organized a Cooperative Mercantile Association in Basin with 2000 shares at 10 each, capital 25000. Basin won the central headquarters over Greybull, $2000 raised, J Stant Brown W A Webb and R L Preator named trustees, J F Case business manager.

Woman's Club selects delegates for federation convention

The Woman's Club met at Fraternity hall with large attendance. Delegates to the Twelfth Biennial convention of the Federated Women's clubs in Chicago on June 8 were chosen, with alternates noted. The club also pledged $200 to equip a kitchen for the proposed economics department. The day’s program featured music and drama with performances and readings by members, praised as one of the year’s best. In separate news, Washington reports March 1914 imports rose by 71.9 percent, costing $12,223,805 and signaling tariff damage to American industries.

Wyoming Irrigation firm tours Shell canal area plans reservoir restart

A D Mott president L C Mowry vice president and A J Baker director of Wyoming Irrigation visited Grey Bull to review Shell canal project after acquiring Shell canal and Wyoming Land & Irrigation assets. Plans call for reservoir construction to begin once snow clears with July 1 target. F C Emerson remains in charge. Peace observances at the high school include a flag raise and chorus. Rev Albone speaks at the Methodist church. Dunniway will address the school and public with a song recital before the talk.

Death of Maud Taylor in Hyattville

Maud Taylor fourteen year old daughter of Mrs Lizzie Taylor of Hyattville died last Wednesday night after convulsions. She had long been an invalid and her death was not unexpected. Funeral services will be held today in Hyattville conducted by Rev G W Albone. Interment will follow in Hyattville cemetery. Sincere sympathy is extended to the family.

J A Berry Elected Mayor In Quiet Town Election

J A Berry was elected mayor with 108 votes while F M Hime Wm Gibson won council seats for two years and J V Gould for one year in a single ticket election. The 111 votes included several write ins and one vote each for several others. All officials sworn in and an informal session discussed policies for the coming year pending Gibson’s return from Cheyenne.
