Booth Elected For Mayor In Town Election

J Booth defeated W Collins for mayor by 68 votes in Tuesday’s municipal election with A Higby and W A Robb elected councilmen by solid majorities. Women actively aided turnout amid rain and busy polling. police reported no disturbances. Town results showed Booth 229 Collins 140. Higby 287 Robb 210 Jenkins 177. other towns listed elect mayors and councilmen with no opposition. A separate assault case involving Cunduff and Douglas was noted with a hospital visit and pending court action.

Basin dairy tests reveal milk with high butter fats

Dr. M. Beal completed a milk test in Basin showing 4 percent butter fats and 14 percent solids with cream at 22 percent. The town council authorized procuring 50 doses of tuberculine for treating tuberculosis in dairy cows.

Father of Willis Guile Dies in Portland Interred in Kirksville

Willis Guile of Basin learns his father W. H. Guile died in Portland Oregon last month. The body was cremated and taken to Kirksville Missouri for interment at the family home.

Man shot at dog during street assault after bank workmen

M R Douglas, carrying about 4765, faced an attacker as he left his business Sunday morning. His dog began barking at a man hiding in the Jones building. Douglas fired twice at the dog and once toward the assailant, then pursued the shooter who is identified as John Cunduff. Officers arrested Cunduff as details unfolded. Douglas later found his dog dead.

Freshman Class Hosts Surprise Party for Miss Geneva McGee

Last Friday evening the high school freshman class gave a surprise party for Geneva McGee to celebrate her birth anniversary. The gathering featured games and music with Faith Rossiter accompanying on the piano. Refreshments were served as guests stayed late wishing her many more happy occasions.

Death of Jacob Bihr in Worland Wyoming

Jacob Bihr of Worland died Monday morning at Basin hospital after a long illness from stomach cancer and heart disease. He is survived by his brother John Bihr and a sister in law Mrs Matt Bausch, both of Worland. The remains were taken to Worland for the funeral held Wednesday.

Sheriff Wickwire Names H I Cusack Deputy

Big Horn county sheriff B F Wickwire appointed H L Cusack as deputy with no other deputies or jailer to be appointed. Wickwire and Cusack will handle the duties together. Al Kirschner remains deputy for Shell and Clarence Gardner at Hyattsville. The Basin Literary Club adjourned after a Monday talk at the Methodist church by Judge Parmelee. The paper praised the address and urged local residents to hear it. T M Goffin and A D Hadley, prominent Indianola real estate men, toured Otto area with Buckingham and Clark and sold Rev J L Thompsen’s land.

Worland ball team defeated Greybull 6 to 2 on Wednesday in Worland. Stim Critchlow pitched the last five innings for Greybull, allowing only one run as a large crowd watched the close game.

Allen Livery Barn Destroyed In Major Fire

A Tuesday at about one o'clock the Double Diamond livery barn owned by Gus Allen burned to the ground. Fifteen or more horses perished, including four owned by Allen, and property losses mounted to roughly ten thousand dollars with little insurance. L. L. Line escaped in night attire, while dozens of transients lost gear and teams. firemen saved neighboring structures as volunteers aided the effort.

Public Building Bill Proposed for Basin Wyoming

Congress introduces a bill to authorize the Secretary of the Treasury to erect a government building in Basin Wyoming. The structure will house the United States Land Office and post office with vaults, heating, ventilating systems, elevators, and approaches at a total cost not exceeding seventy five thousand dollars.
