Progress Dinner Well Attended by Basin Country Audience

The Progress Association held its regular weekly dinner with J B Thompson acting as chairman in the absence of President Ridgely and Vice President Collins. Prof Aven Nelson spoke on Basin Country fruit growing, noting potential land value, suitable varieties, and diseases. a circular letter plan was proposed to handle information requests.

Board Appoints New Sheriff

The Board Of County Commissioners met and declared the office of sheriff vacant and appointed B. F. Wickwire to fill the unexpired term of Felix Alston. Wickwire, long in Basin’s harness business, is praised as well qualified and widely approved. Alston resigned to become superintendent of the Wyoming State Penitentiary near Rawlins and moved to Carbon County. The board approved the action, noting the need for a responsible sheriff.

Town Engineer Expenditures Detailed for 1910 11

Town Council Sets Levy and Misc Street Plans

The Town Council met Monday night with Mayor Collings and all councilmen. Bills were approved, and old water and light plant accounts were laid over for itemized listing. Jas I Patten H E Shepperd and Frank E Judkins were appointed election inspectors. An order set dumping sites on 4th and 6th streets. Concrete walk specifications adopted. Street crossings to be added where homeowners laid concrete walks. Assessed value listed at 932053 dollars for 1911. County poll tax collections shown at 396 dollars. collection directed. Ordinance on disposing of needs corner premises ordered for next meeting. Water piping costs set at 87 cents per hour and burning town lights at 31.20 per hour. Dog licenses to be collected by the marshal. General levy 6.8 mills and interest 4.2 mills.
