Centenary of Odd Fellows Marked by Lodge Gathering

The local Odd Fellows lodge celebrated 100 years since Washington Lodge No 1 founded the first American Odd Fellows lodge in Baltimore. Visitors from nearby towns attended despite bad weather, with addresses by G. J. Schenk and D. L. Carr, a banquet, and dancing. Wallace Held to the Court on Robbery Charge

Daniel Stewart Wallace was bound over to the district court in bonds of 1000 dollars to stand trial at the next term. F A Little led for the state with Paul Moss and H C Brome for the defense. Wallace is accused of robbing Harry G Scott and George Scott in Grey Bull in February. A brother of the defendant was killed by Constable Fisher after the alleged holdup.

Wyoming Boys Not To Done War Regiment Return Delayed

A letter to Senator Kendrick relays that the 148th field artillery, largely from Wyoming, remains with the Third Army of occupation with no definite return date. It notes prior plans placing it with the 32nd division and later as corps artillery, First Corps. Lieut. Col. Burke H. Sinclair is highlighted for leading the unit abroad and in the Marne campaign.

Campaign Progress Report in Liberty Loan Drive

Washington reports show the victory liberty loan campaign half over with only a quarter of the total subscribed. Treasury tallies to tonight list subscriptions at 1 180 097 000 dollars. Mr and Mrs L O Gray and Mr and Mrs Chas McDonald of Mander son visited on Wednesday to see the tank.

Welcome Home Soldiers Parade and Victory Loan Rally

A large Basin crowd welcomed tank demonstrators for the Victory Loan. A parade led by Basin band gathered on Fourth Street before a tank demonstration and bond drive talks by Lieuts Knight and Arnold. The event included a tank climb in the gulch and tours for bond buyers, followed by a Red Cross staged return home program with music and speakers.

Bold Robbery at Cowley Targets Mercantile Store

Sheriff Wickwire and P. P. Anderson investigated a bold Monday night safe cracking at the Cowley Mercantile Co. The thief entered by breaking a window, opened the inner safe with drills, and took 320 in cash, 235 in thrift stamps, 2 watches, 2 knives, jewelry and other items. Two suspicious men were seen in town. authorities believe the suspect fled north toward Laurel.

There will be a Victory Loan dance at Otto this evening and a similar dance at Hyattville tomorrow night. Everyone in these communities is invited to attend.

Election at the brick school house next Monday at 2 o clock will choose three school board members. Retiring members are Mrs. Jas. F. Ewers C A Zaring and S H Smith. Lieut Arnott Promoted From Second Lieutenant

Mr and Mrs J P Arnott learn their son John P Arnott Jr has been promoted from second lieutenant to first lieutenant after overseas service. He previously weighed 165 pounds in France and now reports a 200 pound frame.

Sheep herder arrested under new abandonment law

Owen Sweeney filed a complaint before Justice Bonwell charging Bush Meisner with abandoning sheep without five days notice to the employer. Mr and Mrs R B West and family visited Billings on Monday to view the flyers.

Canning Plant Sought for Wyoming Farm Regions

J R Bonwell of The Republican notes a Missouri canner plans relocation to Wyoming. The plant will can pumpkins squash winter vegetables and dry beans. Farmers must show cooperation at a Basin Chamber of Commerce meeting Saturday May 31 at four o clock to secure operation and early market money.

Death Comes for B F Belton in Helena Montana

Benjamin F Belton died following surgery in Helena Montana after visiting his son for health recovery. He was born in 1857 in Indiana and married twice, with children in Basin and Logan Montana. Funeral held at Basin Methodist Church with burial in Mount View Cemetery and a brother returning from overseas service attended nearby.
