Washington March 29 American forces gained advantage as General Carranza agreed to permit the use of the Mexican Northwestern railroad for supplying troops pursuing Villa. The arrangement, described as commercial use, may require further diplomatic work and possible train guards to ensure steady delivery along the line.

Wyoming stockmen gather for annual cattlemen event

Wyoming Stockmen plan the Thermopolis gathering April 18 and 14. An estimated 200 to 300 cattlemen are expected at the Wyoming Cattlemen association meeting. Entertainment includes a free plunge and auto driven reception. Ladies arrange hospitality. committees aim to include leading Hot Springs County cattlemen. Program details not yet released.

Death of Mrs Reid Burling ton Respected Lady Passes

Mrs Warren Reid of Burlington died shortly after arrival at Basin hospital last Saturday. Daughter of J B McNiven she was married eight years to Warren Reid. Survived by husband parents and several siblings she was laid to rest in Burlington cemetery with impressive ceremonies. Community offers sympathy to the bereaved.

Carnegie library hosts large meet to form Basin Troop 1

A lively gathering at the Carnegie library, led by R. P. Pearson, organized Basin Troop No. 1 with about twenty five boys enrolled. Active scouting begins soon with a first hike planned for next Saturday. Permission granted for use of the library is gratefully noted.

Sheep Prospects in Crystal Creek Country

Fred Faerhard, a successful farmer and sheep grower from Crystal Creek country, was in town last Monday to handle business. He reports a fine flock and ample feed, with conditions this spring the best in years, predicting a strong jamb crop as grass is plentiful and his sheep are in good condition.

Dr. E W Croft of Cowley a Republican state central committee member rode to Cheyenne on Friday to attend a committee meeting and returned Sunday he brings good reports on committee action and party prospects across the state the state convention to elect national convention delegates will be in Cheyenne on May 9.

Basin Hall to Remodel Front for Picture Show Access

The Basin Hall company will start work in a few days to remodel the building front for picture show use. The old front will be removed and a new one set in with swinging doors on both sides, and the room for the picture machine moved forward. The changes will noticeably alter the building’s appearance.

Hughes Buys Welsh Contracting Business in Montana Ties

Wm. M. Hughes of Montana purchased J. H. Welsh contracting business and most equipment during a recent visit. Hughes brings many years of experience and will personally supervise all contracts. Welsh retains several horses to manage his ranches and will keep them in good cultivation.

Rented Ranch Near Town For Farming Venture

W Irwin and his son have rented the P. W. Metz ranch just south of town and moved onto the farm. They plan extensive general farming and will supply the market with top quality vegetables.

Heating Plant Question To Be Voted On

The school board met in special session to prepare for the May meeting and place the decision on installing a heating plant before voters. Estimated cost is about 4000 dollars with levy or bond options and indoor or outdoor placement. The plan aims to improve comfort and reduce dirt while possibly requiring an extra teacher and additional room.

Big Horn County Revenue and Valuation Figures

State examiner data shows Big Horn County 1915 valuation at 799,937.03 dollars with state payments of 125,839.75 and total local levies 13.75 mills raising 99,136.63 for non school purposes. Laramie led in state taxes at 341,343.39. Weston had the highest mill levy at 15.5 and Sweetwater the lowest at 9.57.

A special meeting of Basin State Bank stockholders in the bank rooms elected T F Nelson and E J Sullivan as directors to replace T W Spratt and R W Spratt. Nelson, a Hyattville citizen, and Sullivan, with oil interests, bring strong financial ties and expected gains for the bank. Martha L. Boyd of Basin Gardens died after a long invalid period. interment in Basin cemetery with no public services due to quarantine. Harry Drumm shipped a car of potatoes to Casper, noting Basin’s potato quality and plans to expand shipments. he will visit his Colorado father and relatives.

W R Tolman, noted for successful sheep farming in Otto country, purchased 36 head of cattle from 8 Skovgard this week. He plans to run them on his Greybull valley ranch and may join the ranks of the region's large cattlemen if successful.

Willard Wins Heavyweight Title In New York Fight

The heavyweight championship bout in New York drew one of the biggest crowds, with receipts over 150000. Jesse Willard won on points in the 10th round after punishing Frank Moran, who broke a bone in the third round. Willard earned 42500, Moran half that, and promoters netted about 40000. Willard has a circus contract for the summer at 150000.

The Hallowell Musical Concert company gave a splendid program before a large appreciative audience last Friday night. The concert was under the auspices of the local Presbyterian aid society and was a complete success. The music was fine and each member of the company an artist on his instrument.
