Live Wire club hosts Basin visitors in new club house

The Live Wire club welcomed about 150 visiting ladies with a house tour and phonograph entertainment by Don Denny. An evening minstrel show by Mr and Mrs Harry Johnson impressed the men, followed by light refreshments and dancing. The banquet last night praised Captain Bonwell and his team as royal entertainers in a crowded club room.

Supreme Court Upholds Adamson Law in Interstate Railways

Hartford March 21 Governor Marcus H Holcomb told inter church leaders emergency wartime measures are needed as reports claim Connecticut residents drill at night and munition plant activity could threaten national defense. He cited army and navy shortages and a Springfield arsenal running under capacity, urging vigilance amid political contention.

Court House Contract Signed in Big Horn County

County officials approved plans for a new court house after a bond issue carried last fall. Monarch Engineering Co. of Denver secured the main contract after bids were opened and reviewed by the county commissioners. Subcontracts were awarded to several local men for the construction project.

Plumbing is in charge of Fred Fris by the painting in the hands of Ex tra and Whitmore. Excavating will be done by Dickman and Henry. Work will start by April fifteenth and the long looked for court house will be seen growing on the square.

Robbery arrests linked to Basin Wyoming case

Complaints of several robberies in Greybull prompted a sheriff investigation. Two men were arrested there and brought to the Basin county jail. R M McCrom faces a charge of stealing copper and brass from railroad yards, while R M Zegler was arrested for stealing a laundry and pled guilty.

Carter Sanitarium Opens in Thermopolis

The Carter sanitarium, recently completed in Thermopolis, is ready for patients and infection control. The formal opening will be held in March, drawing visitors from across the Basin to attend.

Basin Laundry Changes Hands

The Basin laundry was sold from B. F. Clark to G. G. Walter and Frank Dugan. Walter plans a picture show and improvements including a steam engine and vacuum cleaner repairs to offer carpet and rug cleaning at homes. Dugan, from Billings, brings twenty years of laundry experience to make Basin’s laundry modern and attract regional trade.

Waffle Supper at Library Basement a Rousing Success

The Methodist church boys organized a waffle supper in the library basement to raise funds for a piano. The event serving began at six with waffles bacon sausage coffee and fried mush. The crowds surpassed expectations and the planners hope to host more entertainments to increase donations.
