Byron Enterprise Canning Factory to Use Gas in Start

Byron, known as the big gas town, plans a canning company to process fruits and vegetables. Gas will power hot beds and heating for year round production, boosting the town’s growth. At the Big Horn theater tonight Yellow Passport stars Clara Kimball in a vivid drama about vice. Saturday features Helene of the North with Marguerite Clark. Thompson Returns from Pacific Coast Lumber Tour

J B Thompson of the Thompson Lumber and Hardware Co returns from an extended trip to the Pacific coast. He reports rapid improvement and strong business potential in southern California and notes thriving lumber mills north of San Francisco with high orders and dealer advances. He attended a Portland lumber dealers banquet as an honored guest and praised Basin country, but prefers the Big Horn Basin as the best place to be.

Land Claim Case Heard By U S Commissioner Joslin

The general land office pursued title action against Flockhart for a Bear Creek desert claim. The case, heard before U S Commissioner B T Joslin, featured testimony from government witnesses F Lampman J FP Clitten KR W Kinder A J Coburn and B C Fuller.

Golden Amusement offers Red Circle and House of Fear shows

Anna Flockhart testified with witnesses M Howe Ariel Luther and John. The evidence was written shorthand for department decision. Golden Amusement features Red Circle tonight and a Friday dance. Saturday presents The House of Fear starring Arnold Daly and Jeanne Hassles in five reels. Wednesday March 15 shows Diamond from the Sky installment. Come to the Golden for first class entertainment.

Basin High School Domesetic Science Dinner Appeals Board

The Basin high school domestic science department hosted a five course dinner at 4 30 last Friday for the school board their wives the county superintendent and the high school faculty. Miss Mc Namera and the senior girls received hearty appreciation for their practical work as the department gains attention and may expand next year. Also noted are Mr. Booth’s California trip reports Wyoming visitors at a Weat Lake picnic and condolences to Mrs Joe Henry on her father J J Russell death in Omaha. A social evening followed choir practice at the Baptist church hosted at the Mrs Matthews house.

County Fair Dates Set for September Show

Fair preparation underway for the state fair September 26 to 30 and Big Horn county fair September 19 to 30. Work aims to make the fairs larger and better, with details to be published as they are finalized. J H Montgomery recently returned from Denver and other points in Colorado.

County Meet Set for Byron March 31

The school held a meet for the northern part of the county, to be hosted in Byron on March 31. Several schools in the region participate and anticipate a very successful day.

Cards And Dancing At F D Vincents Home

Mr and Mrs F D Vincent hosted a large group of friends last Monday evening with cards in the first part and dancing to follow. Mrs Donaldson won first prize and Miss Porter second while R B Landfair took first for gentlemen and H P Ferree second. The color theme honored St Patrick and a dainty luncheon closed a delightful evening for guests present.

Basin school board to pick teachers in April meeting

Extra teachers left with school committee and Prof. Fuchs will be chosen at the April regular meeting. Basin schools rank high in the state and aim to keep up the standard. A large outside student influx is expected next year due to strong local instruction. T. B. Hunter sets a public sale for March 15 at his ranch south of town, his leaseholder George Hoffman and Seattle’s Mr. Johnson hold 80 acres each. Hunter will move to Chicago for a year on the board of trade, then return to farming locally.

Due to the serious illness of Mrs Martha Johnson, the grammar school hires Miss Anna Lewis from Denver. She arrived last Sunday and is an experienced teacher expected to give the best of satisfaction.

County spelling contest set for Basin grammar school

The county spelling contest will be held tomorrow at two o'clock in Basin's grammar school building. The event has attracted much interest and is expected to draw a large turnout of pupils. C M Johnson near Mandelson conducted a well attended sale of fine brood sows last Saturday, selling 47 with prices below expectations, plus horses harnesses and wagons fetching good prices.

A wool car exhibition highlights the latest wool conditions and related industry notes. Officials emphasize quality standards and showcase advances in textile production and equipment.

Different Wools and Sheep Lecture In Basin

A wool demonstration car from the state University and Washington department stayed in Basin from Saturday noon to Sunday noon. County Agent Tedmen organized the visit after local interest, drawing many sheep and wool enthusiasts. Officials explained wool stages from clip to finished product, with J A Hill detailing breeds and fiber types while showing clean and dirty wool and price comparisons. The event highlighted the value of well cared for wool and its effect on prices.

Violet Tea Honoring Mrs Culbertson Draws Sixty Three Guests

Last Saturday afternoon Mrs. T. Armstrong hosted a violet tea with sixty three invited guests to honor Mrs. R. G. Culbertson of Worland. Mrs. Craig poured, assisted by Mrs. West and Mrs. Bishop. Mrs. Armstrong was aided by Mrs. Pease who handed out violet favors opening like a fan. The color scheme was violet throughout.

Meeteetse Residents Return From Worland Wool Meeting

Meeteetse residents who attended the Worland wool growers meeting last Saturday left the same day for home in a big passenger car driven by Joe Wolf and others. Dr Elmer Gould deputy state veterinarian and president of the state board of examiners went to Casper last Wednesday for the board meeting to examine and pass diplomas for veterinary candidates statewide.

Teachers Examination Set for Basin and Lowell

A teachers examination will be held in Basin and Lowell on March 24 to 26. The program for this year will be prepared by the state board of examiners and four teachers will be notified as soon as it is completed.

Bound Over in Lovell Harness Theft Case

County Attorney W. B. Collins traveled to Lovell last Tuesday to prosecute Harry Wiard for stealing harness. The evidence appeared solid and Wiard was bound over to the next term of court.
