County commissioners announce the start of personal tax collection by attachment and sale of property beginning the first week of July. Delinquent taxpayers will have their names published and faces a sheriff sale if not paid. The push aims to fund bridges and roads after washouts and requires equal enforcement.
Peter McDonald of Lovell was bound over for trial on a liquor selling charge after a complaint by F Komel and testimony from Frank Vandal Luke Cherry and BE Moran who said they bought or saw liquor. Mrs McDonald and Nellie testified for the defendant. Bond set at 200 dollars.
Senator C. A. Randall and wife arrive in North Platte for a visit with their daughter Mrs R. P. Pearson and family. Their daughter Margaret accompanies them while son George will return to Omahu next week. Randall and wife plan to stay awhile.
At a Basin Boy Scouts meeting Scout Commissioner KR Pearson selected Dr Pauley as master to lead the troupe in its vavaney activities.
Resignations of BH, Lu, Heard trigger a meeting to arrange entertainment for the Clinton Boy Scouts stopping in Ju ly en route to the park. The troop, fueled by 66 automobiles this week, invites local boys aged 12 and over to apply now for summer activities.
Rev. Edwin Bowling with Mrs. Bowling and family visited Powell during the Methodist Sunday school institute. They were hosted by Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Northrip and other Powell friends while enjoying a few days in the community.
The Mrs F M Hime Sunday school class held a picnic in the White Grove on Wednesday afternoon. Young folks report a very fine outing full of enjoyable moments.
The Standard chautauqua system will hold a six day Basin program starting Sunday July 10 with lectures on national world and individual issues. Organizers expect a large attendance and plan a ticket campaign. The children's chautauqua offers a story hour organized play and community events including a coutume parade plenie and Geld meet with activities for all ages.
Midwest Refining and Wyoming Yellowstone report a giant gas well on the Golden Eagle dome, flowing 150,000,000 cubic feet daily. Gas in several sands at 3,000 feet blew tools from the hole. geologists expect a mammoth oil pool beneath, with a possible gusher when penetrated. Nearby leases and state oil production trends are noted as industry faces storage cuts and regulatory talk.
An exceptionally heavy rain last Saturday night at the headwaters of Brokenback and Tensleep creeks caused significant damage to the Ed Carothers ranch on Brokenback. All Tensleep bridges except one are reported out, while Hyattville country saw heavy rain with no damage reported.
The Worland trip is set for Sunday afternoon with a home crowd invited to attend. Volunteers to help carry players should contact Jack Friend or Mr L Gohan.
Mrs J B Atherly of Basin will head the women building at the fair. A countywide women’s committee will recruit displays from each district for needlework culinary and antiques sections. Mrs C A Welch Cowley chairs needlework. The fair will provide a sanitary case for braid and pastry displays.

The T O A K club met at Miss Chlovis Jones home on Wednesday afternoon. Officers elected were Elizabeth Wilson president Ruth Atherly secretary and Cathryn Extra treasurer. Members listed include Ruth Atherly Amnella Johnson Wynona Johnson Chiovis Jones Ethel Root Gertrude Skovgard Ruth Wickwire Cathryn Extra Louise Renolds and Elizabeth Wilson. Refreshments were served and the gathering praised as pleasant.

Basin chamber officers report the busiest season since arrival, planning a September fair for Big Horn county with 75 workers and preparing 15 000 tourists. They also host 300 Boy Scout troops en route to Yellowstone, aiming to set a strong town impression.
The Greybull sheriff and local police raided a Chinese joint Wednesday night, arresting Toy Sooy and Tom Goom and seizing about $2000 worth of narcotics including cocaine and morphine. Federal officers in Denver were notified and a federal case will proceed under narcotics law. The sheriff seeks to disrupt illicit drug and liquor sales with regional police cooperation.
A local ball game features East Side and West Side on the south street diamond Tuesday evening. Referees Dave Lewis and Press Anderson will umpire, with East Side selected from players including Len Murphy and Ed Scoville and West Side from Fred Frisby and Dr C E Harris. The contest starts promptly at 6 o clock.
