Road Campaign Urges Citizen Help For Better County Roads

County commissioners launch a permanent road improvement program urging every resident to cooperate. Laws on waste water enforcement will be pursued, with pamphlets available from the county clerk. Local man pleads guilty to concealed weapon charge

August Konecy, previously arrested for drawing a dangerous weapon on John Kirby of Gebo, appeared before Judge Lampman. The original complaint was withdrawn and Konecy pled guilty to carrying concealed weapons, receiving a $50 fine plus costs, which he paid before leaving for home in Pero.

Forty Strong Militia Recruit Reaches Quota Target

Up to last evening the militia company had reached forty members and aims to meet the full quota before camp. A list of names includes Don Abbott R B West B C Hart R P Pearson and many more. They held their first drill Wednesday under Col Siiney and army observers praised the display. War forms were measured Wednesday and expected to arrive next week. Also noted are church services at the Presbyterian Fraternity hall on Sunday July 23 with morning and evening programs led by Rev J W Winder and the Presbyterian choir.

Lovell Taxpayer Sues Over School Contract Bid

Albert Oleon of Lovell filed a temporary injunction suit in district court against the Lovell school board and Bruer & Stanton contractors. He seeks to stop payment and construction of a school building contracted without rereadvertising after bids were rejected. The contract price is listed as 15 580 dollars. The Lovell board members named are W. W. Willis president Hans Haneen clerk and R. J. Bischoff treasurer. The defendants are to be represented by John P. Arnott and R. B. Weat.

Town Council Debates Livery License and City Booth Plan

The town council met Monday with Mayor Booth and Councilmen Barnes and Zane. They discussed licensing livery operators, a proposed night call booth with a loud gong, and sidewalk decor rules. Undertaker Ed Dunaway Undergoes Glass Removal

Ed Dunaway, a popular undertaker, recently had glass removed from his knee bag after weeks of trouble. On Tuesday he underwent an operation at Basin Hospital performed by Dr. Carter and will be laid up for a couple of weeks, with friends hoping for a speedy recovery.

Basin fair to host air show by Baker Aviation firm

The Basin fair board secured a contract with Baker Aviation of Billings to stage serophase demonstrations at the fair next September. R L Baker will discuss details with the board. Flights are planned on September 27 and 28. The Bakers may pilot the aircraft, first seen in the Basin area. The fair expects large crowds and is finalizing the premium list for broad distribution.

Kats Cra ig secures ditch contract with Welch for water plant

The Kats-Craig company signed a contract Wednesday evening with J. H. Welch to perform about 14 000 feet of ditch work for the new water plant. Welch will give local workers first choice on decking duties but will hire many additional men from outside town as the project proceeds.
