J A Berry of the Berry amber company helped bring a Basin alfalfa mill project to reality. Robert R Denny of Kansas City will install 40 ton per day mills at Otto and Basin, aiming to be ready by mid September. The Basin Alfalfa Milling Company will hire local workers and supply a regional market for hay. Mayor Warry praised the initiating efforts.
Advertising for the Yankee Robinson Circus fills city and rural routes as double-length trains bring a premier show with trained wild beasts seals ponies monkeys goats and a full roster of aerialists jugglers clowns and gymnasts. Two daily performances start at 2 pm and 8 pm with doors opening an hour early for a band concert and a free exhibition at 7 pm. Col Will H. Godfrey leads security for the crowds. Ladies Aid of the church meets Friday afternoon July Mth at Mrs B C Wise with refreshments.
A noon fire alarm at the William Gideon residence on South Bixth Street prompted quick department response and saved the home. Gideon estimates losses at 1000 dollars from defective electrical wiring and says insurance coverage is adequate. Longshore and Zane wed in Thermopolis on July 9 in a Basin connection with family witnesses.
The county Farmers Union proposes a fair and harvest festival in late September. A committee led by O R Irwin W H May and Till Jones will meet here Friday to arrange details. Exhibits will be sent to the state fair in Douglas after the local show, with wild west and local horse fairs likely featured. More information will appear next week.

Refreshments were served during the evening.
A Wednesday fire between B C Hart’s home and the Development company’s van and warehouse was quickly extinguished. Authorities think leaves burning by children started it. In other news F E McCain, a contractor helper at Lite Buffalo Basin, was treated for a hand infection and may return to work. A bake sale by Methodist Ladies Aid was announced for Saturday at the Gibson building. The Ladies Aid will meet with Mrs. Ging on Thursday, July 28.
Mrs James Hatten died last Monday morning at five at her daughter's home in Hyattville after a long illness. Survived by nine children, she was born April 16 1837 in Jackson Ohio and married James Hatten in 1858. A church member, she moved to Wyoming in 1886 and helped build the town, with funeral at the Hyattville town hall conducted by Rev S W Albone. Interment in Hyattville Cemetery.
A car carrying household goods and stock burned at Durkee on Wednesday, likely started by a stove. The train crew moved the car to the aide track with no damage to the rest of the train, though a cow in the car died in the blaze. Rips Tomatoes: Jack Easter harvested the first ripe tomatoes from his garden, the earliest ripe tomatoes date in the Basin. Mrs. Aaron Johnson returned Wednesday from a visit at Radien.
Foree, accused of killing Under Sheriff W H Veach at Basin Wyoming, died in the state hospital after weeks of illness from gunshot wounds. Physicians had expected recovery, a trip to Pineland Oregon was made to gather evidence for the murder trial. The June 13 shootout occurred during an attempt to arrest Foree for horse theft. he was shot three times and developed local peritonitis.
Garfield Sherman, a longtime salesman for G. W. Black & Co., resigned to join I. H. C. in Billings with a higher salary and better advancement prospects. He leaves many friends in the city who wish him well. R. A. Gould will fill his position temporarily at the Black store.
Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Extra entertained a small gathering Monday evening in their new home. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. John Zane Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Gray Mr. and Mrs. Low Blakesley Mr. and Mrs. John Smith and Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Whitmore. A lunch followed at midnight and cards and games were enjoyed.
George Randall Logan Metcalf and Claire Derby left Monday for Cody overland. Claire will return after a short visit in Billtown. The others, with John Coons who rode the train to Cody, will tour the park before returning home.
Mr and Mrs W F Johnson celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary last Saturday in Basin with a modest gathering. The Republican joins in wishing them many more years of happiness as friends note their estimable and steady partnership.
