Boosters Meet Discuss Secy Hire and Immigration

The Poogress Association met at Frontier restaurant with Vice President Collings presiding. Minutes were approved as several communications about Basin work arrived, including requests about labor, blacksmithing, laundry relocation, and exhibit plans. A paid secretary proposal was advanced, with bids to be received next meeting, and members discussed dues and contributions to fund the effort.

Pardons Granted to Eight Prisoners in Wyoming

Governor OdFey signed eight pardons and two parole guides after thorough board reviews. Pardoned are Julius Bently from Laramie for grand larceny in 1909, Sims for forgery in 1908, J Kirp for forgery in 1908, Herr Emery for forgery in 1909, General Allen from Albany for robbery in 1909, Charles S Jokes for grand larceny in 1909, Frank Kowalski for breaking and entering in 1910, and Hari Wise for embezzlement from Sheriff idan county. Filberto Vilpando of Carbon county was paroled for manslaughter. Wise to work as gardener in Basin. Crops in Gooseberry valley praised as fine with alfalfa expected strong. ranchers may ship large hay quantities amid rising prices.

Entertained At Carde By Wise Family In City

Mr and Mrs F A Wise hosted a Monday evening cards gathering. Attendees included G W Black C Dana Carter H Lawrence Strandberg A H Fuller and R H Ahrens of Burne McDonnell who arrived from Kansas City to oversee the new water works plant project. Mrs Moore accompanied her husband and plans to stay through the summer at the Rogers House before establishing a home here.

Made Good Record At School Of Mines In Golden

Linn Thompson son of J B Thompson returned home for summer vacation after attending the School of Mines at Golden Colorado. Over the past year about 135 students entered the course with 25 qualifying for the finish Linn was among the 25. This news brought pride to his parents and friends. Frank Ewing of Beaver Creek visited with a load of fine hogs sold to the Bsein Mest Market at éc per pound. Hogs averaged 225 pounds and were fattened on alfalfa and waste glean from the ranch. Miss Madge Mepes has completed stenographic review and continued work as a public stenographer, improving efficiency with the summer course.

Released on Bond in Gebo Case

Loula Peterson, arrested for selling liquor without a license at Gebo, has been released on bond furnished by Mr. Rohr of Thermopolis to appear at the next district court term. Rev Father Madrea to conduct services in Basin Sunday July nd with Mass at 10 and evening devotions. Mass at 7:30 Monday morning.

Basin Town Among Coal Field Leaders

Mee traveled over the Basin area and chose Basin as a winner. H. L. Beemer of Big Horn Collieries Co. Crosby praised Basin, noting progress and lauding local coal quality. He outlined $100,000 spent last year on improvements, a Crosby pipeline, electric pumping, and electrified lighting. Plans include a large work force soon and 160 to 175 hires in fall as demand grows.

Teachers seek new exams and reading lists update

State board recommends specific texts for teacher examinations in theory practice and reading. Reading circle books for 1911 include Wyoming laws Monroe history and other titles. Basin county teachers institute runs August 21 24 with follow up exams August 25 26 under A F Fillerup Co Supt.

Thompson Entertainers Open Tent Show Near Fred Fraty’s

A Thompson Entertainers tent show opened south of Fred Fraty’s plumbing shop this week but early reports suggest the act and its publicity are not impressive. In nearby news, Judge Lampman united Owen Spence and Eva West in marriage at their residence, with friends wishing them a prosperous life. Ded Payne reports a fine pure seed wheat crop on the courthouse square. Shel Creek notes a larger alfalfa harvest with harvest underway and large hay stacks visible around town.

Beem Basin trip boosts Big Horn Basin crops

C. C. Ellis left Tuesday for the Louis valley in Colorado on a boosting trip for the Big Horn Basin. He carried a large set of samples of what is raised here to show the people of Colorado.

Deeds Sent for Post Office Site Approval

Deeds conveying city square land to the government for a post office site have been forwarded to the treasury department for examination and approval. Chas A Mann, Rogers House landlord, has had the building repainted and redecorated, enhancing that town end. Distinct prize cups in Johnson Pease window drew attention and favorable comment. Grasshoppers report Legerers rere dog damage on west side while laborers arrive for the city pitch work on the other side.

WILL VISIT WYOMING FOR FISH HATCHERY SITE

Commissioner of fisheries George M. Bowers told Senator Warren he plans a Wyoming visit this year to select a site for a government fish hatchery funded by 26000 dollars. The secretary of commerce and labor designates the site choice. Bowers will evaluate options for best government interests and Wyoming water for canals and ponds.

Fishing Trip to Trapper and Shell Creeks Highlighted by Hospitality

The writer and Harry Smith visited Trapper and Shell creeks staying at Trapper Lodge owned by Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Wyman. They praised pure water, plentiful trout, and grand scenery as well as Shell valley’s fertile crops. Mrs. Wyman cooked the caught trout superbly, though the trip ended with Smith carrying the fish home.

J J Rech plans a month away returning to Nevada stamping ground. J E Lemeke of White Lake South Dakota may buy a ranch here. B Stanton and crew left for Lowell to begin work on a new school. Mrs Casa Morris of Hyattville came with Link Diehl in his new auto. Company at Cody ordered to report at Wheatland then returned home. Mrs Wa Ingolle came for a field treatment in town. Happily Married in Quiet Hyattville Wedding

Last Wednesday at 8 pm L A Parker of Hyattville and Susie Williams of Thermopolis were married at the Rogers House by Rev H B Shepherd. The ceremony was private with only Chas A Mann present. The couple left for their Hyattville home. Parker has long been a leading merchant figure in Hyattville and Ten Sleep, recently selling his store and taking a private life at Kirkpatrick place. The bride is highly accomplished and widely known in the Basin. Community friends extend best wishes.

Under drainage for alkali soils in irrigation regions
