Yesterday Mrs Alice Woody who formerly owned a hotel at Manderson departed for Indiana to make her home in Remington. She is well known in the Big Horn Basin and friends extend best wishes.

Mrs C P Brown of the Golden Youle dry goods store departed Tuesday for Chicago and New York to shop for a month on a buying trip. She will visit several more places during her absence.

Hyattville Doctor Visits In Mountains Visit

Dr L G VanSlyke came from Hyattville on Tuesday to meet Mrs H F Puttits and daughter Venda. They are mother and sister of Mrs VanSlyke and plan a mountain visit lasting several weeks.

Wise Brothers Complete Half Interest Purchase

Wednesday afternoon Harry and Herb Wise completed a deal in which Herb bought a half interest. Details show the transfer finalized between the siblings with no further terms disclosed. The transaction centers on ownership share and future involvement.

Jewelry Store Partnership Formed After Wise Exit

Half interest in the jewelry store formerly owned by Harry L. Wise will join with Herb after severing ties with the drug store. The stock will be expanded this summer and fall to become the state’s most complete line and maintain the store’s famed service. The local Red Cross chapter thanks J. M. Montgomery for a $100 donation this week.

Peterson Family Moves to Basin Residence

E F Peterson and his wife and three children moved from Wibaux Montana to Basin after purchasing an interest from W. S Pease. They will live in the Whaley house at West Eighth and A streets. Peterson had recently toured Chicago for purchasing before returning via Wibaux.

Editors Approve Government Acts At National Convention

Minneapolis July 9 A resolution pledging support to President Wilson and belief in victory in the war was adopted by the National Editorial association and telegraphed to Washington. Mayor Van Lear criticized press advertising influence, prompting sharp replies from delegates. President Tomlinson dismissed the incident.

Wyoming Women Register To Aid Nation July 17

Governor Houx calls all Wyoming women to register for service on July 17. About 35 000 women could volunteer for the current emergency and a large portion is expected to participate. Registration will occur at regular voting precincts under women volunteers. counties are organized and some towns plan automobile service to maximize turnout.

Local buyers purchase Hereford bulls at Elk Horn Co ranch

W. J. and A. J. Dixon of Hampshire purchased five polled Hereford bulls at the Elk Horn Live Stock Co. ranch on Horse creek. Manager Lou Blakesley delivered the cattle to Basin and the group returned home on Tuesday.

County Fair Here to Stay Embraces Growth and Community

The county fair aims for a united effort to ensure a successful autumn festival. Over the last three years it has grown into a county pride event with up to date exhibits and entertaining plans for the September 4th 5th and 6th shows in Big Horn county and Douglas, inviting both locals and visitors to form lasting ties.

Mann Hotel Changes Hands In Basin Lease

On Wednesday the Mann Hotel near the depot was leased for eight years by Chas. Mann to S. L. Holdaway and E. L. Ledbetter, Seattle entrepreneurs with hotel experience. They plan a free employment office, work with the Chamber of Commerce, and improve the property while operating on the American plan.

Gerard resigns as ambassador to Germany

James W. Gerard, former ambassador to Germany, resigns from the diplomatic service. His resignation, accepted earlier, ends a prominent career begun in Berlin before World War I. Officials note uncertainty if a vacancy exists on the ambassadorial list as relations with Germany end.

Women to Register for Registration Day July 17

In response to Governor Houx call July 17 has been set as registration day for women. Basin aims for a 100 percent registration record with every woman urged to register. Mrs T K Bishop appointed by state authorities to oversee registration.

Chamber of Commerce conducts quarterly meeting at Live Wire club

The Basin chamber held its regular quarterly session led by President R B West at the Live Wire club rooms. Randall Austin reported progress on the camp ground project with an estimated $200 for this year's work and approval to proceed.

State Fair Garden Grows at Wyoming Event

Secretary Higby praises the state fair garden and deflects praise to Mr. and Mrs. Dan Scofield for a well planned plot. The extensive variety includes radishes lettuce onions peas beans potatoes beets carrots cabbage aquash cucumbers and a large corn plot. Rev. Long returns from the Adventist brotherhood meeting in Nebraska.
