Near Otto Mrs Walter Manny Accidentally Shot

A report from near Otto states Mrs Walter Manny accidentally fired a gun, wounding herself. She is hospitalized as local authorities investigate the incident and assess handling of the firearm.

Woman Dies From Gun Accident In Basin Area

Mrs Walter Manny died after a 22 caliber rifle discharged while she tried to drive off a dog in the Manny yard south of Otto. The weapon misfired as she grabbed the barrel, the bullet lodging in the stomach. She died Saturday morning at the Basin hospital after being conscious earlier and recounting the events. Funeral held at Basin’s Methodist church with burial at Mount Zion. She was 25, married in 1914 to Walter Manny, survived by her mother, brother, sister, and father.

Fishing Trip Brings Monticello man West to Trout Quest

Hert Van Voorst of Monticello Indiana, a longtime friend of Dr M G Traugh of Otto, arrived yesterday. On Saturday he joins Traugh and Dr H T Harris of Pasta for a trip into the region to gather trout. It is Voorst’s first trip this far west and he is already impressed by the country.

Fourth of July Celebrations at Tensleep Basin and Hyattville

The Fourth was celebrated with ample amusements and a large turnout in Tensleep Basin. A full program ran from 12 pm to 9 pm with music, speeches by C H Harris and Thomas M Hyde, a barbecue, races, a Worland win in a ball game, and a late firework display. Dignitaries and residents from Basin Worland Buffalo and Nowood region attended, with over fifty autos on site.

Washington reports official figures from recent primaries and registrations showing strong Republican gains despite lower total votes in many races. Tallon and Mina Mc Dowell Wed in Big Horn Cabin Ceremony

Fred D. Tallon and Miss Mina Mc Dowell were married at the Tallon cabin in the Big Horn mountains on Monday evening at six o'clock by Rev. H. E. Shepherd. G. M. Tallon and Mrs. Paul E. Stanton of Omaha, a sister of the bride, attended with Miss Marsha Stanton of Omaha, Mable Tallon, and Harold Huckins. A mountain wedding dinner followed in a pine grove near the cabin. The couple reside about eight miles from Big Trails.

First cucumbers arrive from Basin garden

County Commissioner T W Spratt delivered the season’s first cucumbers to his office on Wednesday. The Spratts boast one of Basin’s finest vegetable gardens and pride themselves on cultivating crops that raise the Big Horn Basin’s fame.

County Board Raises Valuations at Equalization

The board of county commissioners finished as a board of equalization and raised assessments to 73,225 and lowered to 40,992, yielding a net increase of 52,233 in total valuation.

Farmers' Union Meeting at Basin Armory

The Farmers' Union of Big Horn county met Tuesday in Basin armory with about fifty present from nearly every local. President Ewen led the session as various reforms and fair taxation measures were debated. A new legislative committee was formed with Lou Blakesley Till Jones and Dan Van Wert. J Stant Brown reported strong progress financing a new store with $3000 subscribed and mostly paid. The union approved plans for a harvest festival and fair in the fall, appointing a committee to supervise. The convention was harmonious and the issue will be publicized next week.

Dancing Party at South Fifth Street Home

Four men spend Fourth of July at Hyattville fishing Paint Rock

Culverts Begin on Hyattville Road Work Moves Ahead

J. H. Welsh and crew left yesterday afternoon to advance culvert installation on the Hyattville road. They plan extensive work to place the road in first class condition and also intend significant repairs on the Grey Bull road in the near future.
