Prohibition Debate Shapes Wyoming House Actions

Wyoming house actions on prohibition dominated by changes to the Hardin bill. Revisions remove search and seizure without a warrant, exempt certain medicines, and set governor control over the prohibition commissioner term. Chamber of Commerce Elects Officers and Appoints Committees

Members met at the club rooms Monday evening to appoint two members to work with the Woman's club on national community service. F J Rue and R J O'Malley were named. A committee of P I Anderson, Carl Wilson and T J Jones was formed to gauge Myattville sentiment on a Hyattsville Basin telephone line. Directors’ terms were set, with A B Martin elected president and H W Horn as an officer.

At a recent directors' meeting the vice president and F A Wise treasurer led discussions on several proposals. Directors talked over many matters that will benefit the town and promised public notice once concrete details are prepared.

Sheepherder Curtis Pleads Guilty in Train Shooting

Charles Curtis the sheepherder who fired on a northbound passenger train and wounded a man named Lee pleaded guilty before Judge P W Metz and received a two to four year sentence in the state penitentiary. He was taken to Rawlins by Sheriff Wickwire.

Beryl Perkins Expected Home From Fort Logan

Beryl Perkins son of Harve Perkins of Otto is expected home tomorrow from Fort Logan. He served in France where he was gassed and left side remains paralyzed. He would be the first Big Horn county boy to return who saw the fighting line, though Ernest Agee had the first return from France.

Roosevelt Day Observance Proposed by Basin Chamber

Across the nation February 9 is set aside as a Theodore Roosevelt memorial. Basin plans brief public exercises sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce to join in the observance.

Government bills extend price support and food control powers

Washington January 28. An appropriation bill of 1.25 billion dollars would fund the government guarantee of 2.20 a bushel for the 1919 wheat crop and preserve power to control grain dealers mills elevators and exchanges. Senator Gore defers action, noting the measure is broader than needed.

The local National Supply store closed yesterday for three hours during the funeral of W. C. Hillman president of the concern. Hillman was the first president and a major figure in the company’s growth due to his efforts.

Chicago Leaders Move Against Wheat Policy Plan

Organized opposition to the federal wheat price strategy was opened in Chicago with a Board of Trade meeting. Gun Explosion Injures Jack Friend Near Worland

Jack Friend suffered a severe facial injury when a 30 30 Mauser exploded while he and R J O Malley traveled toward Worland on a telephone company errand. He was rushed to Worland for treatment before returning to Basin. The blast struck his right cheek and singed around his eyes.
