Sheepherder Bound Over After Train Shooting

Chas Curtis, a sheepherder, raised a commotion on a northbound train near Lovell after drinking whiskey. He shot passenger John Lee three times, wounding him seriously, before being overpowered and jailed. Lee was taken to Billings for treatment. Curtis was bound over to district court in $500 bond and remained jailed.

Basin State Bank stockholders elected nine directors led by Henry Jordan John Luman L. J. Diehl T. F. Nelson W. T. Club rooms open as emergency hospital ends visit limit

Sugar Beets Meet Price Set at 10 Per Ton for 1919

Denver January 8 1918 Managers informed at office conference December 19 that sugar beet contracts for 1919 will use last year terms with a flat 10 per ton price. Market forecasts uncertain for October 1919 to October 1920 but plan to print contracts now and distribute to field staff.

Narrow escape as chimney gas leaks at Arnott home

Escaping gas from a chimney at Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Arnott's home last Tuesday nearly caused disaster. Mrs. Arnott detected the leak, Mrs. Amelia Jones was found unconscious but revived, and the family might have been overcome if not discovered in time. Mrs. Leitch of the Markham House returned from Lost Springs.

The stockholders of the Big Horn County Bank held their annual meeting and added Dan W. Rogers to the board. The current board includes Rogers W E Taylor F J Walters S H Cockins Wm Gibson R P Pearson and D L Darr. Officers remain D L Darr president Wm Gibson vice president R P Pearson cashier and J A Coons assistant cashier. A regular dividend was paid as Basin and surrounding area grew.
