Social weekly notes highlight the Basin women hosting bridge luncheons and dinners. Mrs T B Armstrong entertained the Samedi club with a gold and mulberry color theme. Guests included Mesdames Traugh Avery Rayl and Rausch. Mrs W B Larrick hosted a bridge luncheon with many attendees and a fifth wedding anniversary wooden gift shower.
The local American Legion post expands rapidly with membership nearing 50. Within weeks, ex service men enrolled rose from 18 to almost a score, and reports from nearby districts show support for consolidating with this post. The Marlon Tanner post already has reps from Otto, Burlington, Emblem, Shell, Hyattville and Matterson.
R B West secretary treasurer of the Big Horn County Irrigating Co returned from Omaha where directors met. H V C Hart resigned as president and H C Brome of Worland was elected to replace him. Secretary treasurer accounts were audited and praised. The company aims to attract settlers to lands held locally. West also met General Pershing, who is viewed as a strong presidential contender.
Superintendent of Construction T. B. Armstrong moved his camp to the Flagetaff neighborhood and completed laying sixteen miles of pipe. Gas was turned into the line for a test with only minor defects and no leaks. Ditching continues between Basin and Greybull as the line nears connection to the Greybull refinery early next month.
County officials this week rejected the jury panel for the February term of district court. The pool included names from Basin Lovell Greybull Burlington Cody and other towns such as Emblem Hyattville Cleverly Frannie and Denver among others.

The governor announces a special legislative session to ratify the suffrage amendment. Leaders expect swift action as state bodies prepare measures for voting and implementation.
Governor Robert D. Carey calls Wyoming legislature to convene January 26 in Cheyenne to ratify the federal woman suffrage amendment. The call limits discussion to suffrage, with lawmakers deciding session length. Wendell Calhoun and John F. Deagon attend Basin events amid potato industry plans and North American Fruit Exchange marketing aims.
Lewison Chapter No 16 O E S installed officers for the year led by W M Carolyn Brown and W P Clyde Athrly. 33 members attended a 6 30 pm repast at Mountain View hotel hosted by Sister Catherine Goodrich with Henry Griffin of Burlington in town en route to Cheyenne.

Attorneys H. C. Brome Thomas M. Hyde and E. B. Eaterline travel to Sheridan next week to try Sweeney v the Union Pacific Railway Administration. Owen Sweeney, administrator, seeks damages for his brother killed near Sheridan. The suit requests 36000 dollars and is billed as one of the state’s largest similar cases.

J. M. Minks shipped a car load of honey this week from this place to market. He secured the supply from his own stock and from a number of other honey producers in the vicinity.
The Chamber held its first meeting of the year at Mountain View on Wednesday evening. Two minutes were read and approved, current bills approved, and progress reported on warehouse subscriptions. Debate over warehouse location included up town versus tracks with plans for a holding company and stock meetings once $10,000 is raised. A. W. Coons urged census aid and a two day extension. a committee to assist the enumerator was formed. A chicken dinner was set for next Wednesday at 76 cents per plate.
The Presbyterian Ladies Aid held its annual election with President Mrs. Frank Hime, vice presidents Mrs. J. R. Keachie and Mrs. J. C. Stewart, Secretary Mrs. F. A. Little, assistant secretary Mrs. Rausch, Treasurer Mrs. H. H. Hime, and assistant treasurer Mrs. Avery chosen. Committee chairmen will be appointed by the president. Haworth League hosted Methodist church members for a spelling match and puzzle party after prayer meeting last night.
The Powell area reports a successful community storage project modeled on a local potato warehouse. Farmers and merchants have funded and organized the Big Horn Basin Storage company with a one to two share limit per person. A nine-member board including Wiggins Jefferis Friess Miller Peterson Anderson and Dillavou was elected to manage the year.
A. P. Helphrey conducted a sale of stock and household goods at the old Joshville place south of town last Tuesday. Attendees from surrounding towns bid spiritedly and secured good prices for many items offered.
