Progress association discusses lamb taxation policy in Basin session

In a regular Basin session at the Antlers Judge Metz presided as E J Sullivan urged tax relief for lambs fed locally arguing that feeding hay markets crops and supports a new industry. Others urged following existing law and pushing legislative change while a committee was asked to study the matter. The Basin Woman’s club gathered at the library later with talks on foods and current events and a social afterward. The Greybull company found a water well in a gas field hole indicating future pumping needs and cost savings, with plans to drill another well. Church service noted for February 14 1914.

Bank officers elected at Basin State Pioneer Trust and Big Horn banks

Local stockholders elected officers and directors for the coming year at Basin State Bank Pioneer Trust & Savings Bank and Big Horn County Bank. Basin State named T. W. Spratt as president H. H. Judgment Reversed in Basin Coal Case

Attorney C A Zaring announced from Denver that the US Court of Appeals reversed the lower court judgment in the Peter Goleb versus Owl Creek Coal Co case. Goleb had been awarded 21000 in Cheyenne federal court.

Dancing Club Meets at Library With Guests From Greybull

The 1913 1914 dancing club held its regular dance at the library on Wednesday evening with large attendance. An automobile party from Greybull including Mew H. T. Lamb Mise Lole Bilott Jack Ml Wett John Ingalls and Laslie Clem enty were guests. The evening was very delightful according to report.

Kansas City stockyards report gains in cattle, hogs and sheep. Cattle receipts 36,000 last week, stockers and feeders up 10 to 15, natives at 8.65, better steers around 9, cows 7.25, pulp fed 7.10 to 8.35, meat steers 6.75 to 8.10. Hogs steady with top 8.25, pigs 7.00 to 7.50. Sheep firm with strong demand though lambs show weak spots.

Danish violin virtuoso Christan Hansen is secured for Frunterni's hall on Monday February 2 under the auspices of the local I O O F lodge. Senators push for major road funding in Wyoming and surrounding forests. An $8,536 forestry fund allotment targets Big Horn and Clarks Fork roads, Teton pass, and Hoaback canyon projects to create through routes to Jackson Hole and Yellowstone.
