Rhodes declared insane for removal to Evanston

A Worland rancher J M Rhodes was found insane in a lunacy inquest by a jury including officials from Bell Telephone and the municipal light plant. The verdict ordered transfer to the state hospital for treatment. Rhodes has a wife and children in Council Bluffs and will be placed under deputy guard while arrangements for support and estate protection are made.

B F Wickwire traveled to Thermopolia and returned Tuesday with Mrs Wickwire and their daughter in tow.

Well Known Basin Resident Dies at Home

Well known Basin resident Mrs Mae B Staton wife of John Staton died at 12 30 p m last Sunday January 4 at their Basin home after a period of poor health She was observed on the street the previous Friday and became ill Saturday morning The community mourns the loss of a longtime resident with family ties and local standing.

Progress Association Deliberates Basin Zoning Plan

The Progress Club discussed zoning Basin country with other sections in a single booklet and the need for deployable publicity. Stucco Mixer Arrives At Enders Plant

The mixer purchased by County Clerk Enders arrives at his stucco plant completing the necessary machinery for the mill. It boosts plastering efficiency for projects including Dr. C Dana Carter’s hospital, D C Henry’s new house, the Foater dwelling, and the new grammar school. G W Black traveled to Thermopolis for horse inspection duties as an official inspector.

Latimer Collapses on Street in St Louis

On a Wednesday near noon Z Latimer a traveling salesman from a wood turning company in safety fell in front of Fred Garland’s Myvery stable from a heart attack. John Davis passing by assisted Latimer who grew faint and unconscious. C D Markham driving to the noon train rushed to Pioneer restaurant for Dr Carter who answered the call. Davis cared for Latimer while Markham returned with the doctor who ordered removal to the Markham House.

The Ar ingtera will perform The Old Maine Home tonight and may present The Devil on Wednesday. If so, locals will be entertained and paid. They plan St Elmo for Sunday and a children's and ladies matinee on Saturday. Tickets are ten cents for the former and twenty five cents for the latter.

Sheridan Man Visits Basin and Plans Return

D A Lindsay a former Sheridan businessman visited Basin last Saturday staying until Monday then traveled to Thermogola and plans to return by bike to Basin to explore opportunities. He was entertained by Basin friends and received attention from O H Richardson during his visit. The jury commission county treasurer and county clerk Enders finished their work drawing about twelve to thirteen hundred names as authorized by law.

Assaults Preliminar y Held for Worland Shooting Victims

Young men Harry Duncan and Leonidas LaCroix faced a Worland preliminary examination for the shooting of Cortez the Mexican. Prosecutor West led for the state as Judge Williams bound both defendants over to the next criminal court session in $1,000 bail each. they remain jailed in Basin until posting. No formal charge against Cortez has been filed yet by the prosecutor.

Spurrier Barn Burns Near Town

Spurrier’s two story barn about four miles south of town was destroyed by fire last Monday night with contents valued at over 2000 dollars. Insurance of 600 dollars covered by Phoenix company. Fire detected about 11 pm by the family, but flames had already engulfed one side. Grain, harness, mowing machine, alfalfa seed and sacks lost. Origin likely from sparks from house stoves. Mrs Bud Sheldon critically ill. Mrs Bul Sheldon of Tensleep in danger and may require operation. Dr Carter to visit upper country to assist and assess her condition.

West's Paper Draws Crowd At Basin Literary Club

The Basin Literary club welcomed Prosecuting Attorney R. B. West Monday evening as he presented a timely paper on Direct Primaries. Members who debated the topic found themselves unprepared after his negative position earlier, with Blakesley Matteson Smith Thompson and others taking part. A parcels post bill debate is planned next week led by Blakesley and Shepherd.

Woman's Club meeting promotes Basin city Beautiful plan

The Woman's Club held a highly successful gathering on Wednesday. President Mrs Spankling led efforts to foster Basin beautification with city officials and local business leaders in attendance. A F Marah gave a talk and coffee refreshments were served, contributing to a pleasant affair.
